APPARATUS FOR DISTRIBUTING COMPRESSED AIR FOR PURPOSES on VENTILATION.
Specification of Letters Patent. Applicationfiled May 17, 1907. Serial No. 374,263.
' Patented May 18, 1909..-
Be it known thatiwe, HUGO ARNDT, a subject of theEmperor of Germany, residing at 29 Elizabethufer, Berlin, in the Empire of, Germany, factory owner, and ALBERT N IJ'RN- BERG, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at 8Cl1aussest1'asse, Berlin, in the l Empire of ermany, engineer, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Apparatus for Distributing Compressed Air for Purposes of Ventilation, following is aspecification. This invention relates to apparatus for dis- 1 tributmg compressed air for purposes of Wu tilation. It belongszto the known type of air 1. Apparatus for'dlstrlbut'in distributing apparatus in connection with which the air flows out of a pipc inthe form of a star,'and the pipe is rotated through the the outflowing gaseous body.
trlbuting arms are in the form of hollow vanes, which rotate around the same axis.
The compressed air flowing out of .these vanes is'projected into the room through the rapid rotation of the vanes but after passing out 'is-:.fu,rther dispersed by the following vane.. v
The-improved apparatus is illustrated. in the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 being a longitudinal section and Fig. 2 an eleva-. tion of the apparatus. Fig. 3 is a transverse fiction-taken through 66 of the vanes or a es.
A'hollow bo'dy'l is rot'zit ively seated on a suitably drilled cone 2, which is attached to the admission pipe for the compressed air. I On to this hollow body 1 pieces of piping 3 secured, which piping howevercan be rotated somewhat, so as toenable the hollow vanes 4 which are fixed l thereon tobeadjusted'more or'l'ess obliquely to theiraxis of rotation. The vanes 4 are retained in the position given to them by means of the jam-nuts] The vanes or blades are .com osed of two metal plates, which are fixer to the pieces of piping 3 and tightly soldered over the whole circumference with the exception of one place for example, as shown, I on the edge of the vane where indicated by l of which the the numeral 6, where a slot is left open, in the same place on each vane, and out of which the compressed-air flows. The slot may be replaced by a row of holes. Two or more of such vanes or blades may be arranged on the hollow-body 1. If now in the'case of all the existing vancsithe compressed airpass'es out at ,6, it exercises a reactive action, through which the vane-wheel thus constructed is caused to rotate. The distribution'of the air is thus effected in the manner described above.
Having fully described our invention, what we claim and desire to secure by Letters Patan by reaction comprising aiconical body connected to the air admission pipe, conduits .or ways in said conical body opening communication between the admission pipe and the exterior of the cone, a hollow casing rotatively mounted on said cone, and hollow vanes or blades mounted on said casing and in open communication with its interior, said vanes having screw-threaded stems fitting screw-tap ed openings in said casin and be ing provi ed with jam nuts and out ings substantially as described and-for the purpose stated.
2. A air by reaction comprising a conica body connected to the air admission'pipe, conduits et open-' pparatus for distributing com -rssed.
or ways injsaid conical body openlng commuexterior of the cone, a
nication with its interior and out et' openings in said vanes or blades substantially as de-' scribed and for the purpose stated.
In testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands in presence of two subscribing witnesses this 2nd day of May 1907.
