sii whom t2 may conservi.' "Be it known that We, Lmvio SCHMIDT end irinnnnn'r Sonmn'r, both living in the temi of Kaiserswerth, Gerinsny, have invented eertein new end useful improvements in Automatic Cut-Offs ier Ges, oi which the following' is e speoiiioetion.
The invention relates to en arrangement in gsseondiiits, for oiosing seid conduit if the ges-pressure she-uid happen to become so low thst the deines mey extinguish or that en erpiosion meybeeorne possible.
The eeeoinpanying drawing shows two speei'le iorms of this new invention.
Figure 1 shows in section and partly in eievetion one forni of executing the invention and Fig. 2 the seeond form.. Fig. 3 is a seetionuoi Fig. 2 on iine B.
The arrangement, shown in Fig. 1 eon` siste two chambers or reoeivers 2 end 3, iiiied vrithe. Fluid uA to the l'illing-pipe 1 Whieh een he" olosedi Receiver 3 een be eiosed gastight b'lv ineens of the' @over 4. pipe 5 goes to t ie reeeiver 3 for the purpose of' letting in ses and s pipe allows the ges to escape. 'he reeeiver .2 is likewise eiosed by means of s cover, this letter however not being eiietvight. in the receiver 3 there ie a tica-ter 7 having e hole in its center, this iioeter being provided with e valve The Weight of the seid Adoet-er together' with that ef the valve is just greet enough to hee the ioater immersed in the 'Huid to its surihee. Within the reeeiver 2 there is s hoster 9, having e hole'in its center, through which hoie e hanged pipe 10 pesses, et the iower end of Whieh the Weight 11 is fastened, previded with the gesplieelr-ring and serving es valve. ed s pipe i2, leeding directly into the re oeiver 3, Whereas within, the receiver 2 it leeds into t. speeinl chamber 13. This chamber 13 has in its upper port an open pipe 14 which nnry be closed by ineens of the valve 11, and in its side pert said chamber 13 has another. pipe 15, in which a return-vulve 16, opened toward the interior the ohnmber, is provided. The pins 17 and 18, tightened by ineens of stuing-boxes, go through the bottom of both receivers, said pins being hinged to o. lever 19-19l. This lever, being pivoted'ut- 20, has on its erin 19 e Weight 21, Whereas the other arm 19a is moi/ably oonneeted with the rod 23, this latter being provided with a nose 22. Above the nose 22 there is n springing erm 24 and et the side The receivers 2 and 3 are oonneot-A of this, there is an eleet1'o-inngnet 25. The receiver 3 is connected by means of n. pipe 27 with another U shaped pi` e 28, inode of nonA- conducting materiel. fiile pipe 28 filled With quick silver` up to n certain height and Connected with en electric l'fmttery Above the quick silver there is e. oontert 121325 Within the receiver, this Contact being con nested with the dentro-magnet 25 und the buttery 29. A switchboard 30 and un eleo- .tric'bell 31 maybe inserted in the rlrrtrir iine. By the side of the pipe 2S there is :ur other pipe 32 filled with quick silver or the like, having the same shape es the iirst one end being in the same manner connected with the electro-magnet and the battery. into this pipe, n pipeS disehsrges, going 'to the so-cn led didusion-ohember Si romposed of Clay or other porous materiel.
The Whole arrangement :rots es follows; The gas, enteringT the receiver S through the pipe 5 tries to displace it part of the fluid, according to its pressure. he iiuid, trying to go to the pipe 6, finds its Way barred up by the ilooter 7 with its valve 8 and the Way, leading to the receiver 2, is closed by the valves l1 and 16. For operating the apparrr-tus, it is necessary to lot the fluid ,eo the wey to 2. is pulled at its erin 151 so i'nr downward that the pin 17 of the lever-erin 19 pushes under the vulve 11 lifting the sume :t litt-lo. hr-n the liuid can go oil' through 14 in 2 and eend, so that the Hoster tl, risingl tog-ether With the Huid, holds the vulve l1 suspended over 14, by .means oi" the flange. 'lhen in the receiver 3 tl e fluid is allowed to sinh', in'dueneed by the gas enteringthe pipe 5, so that the Hoster 7, sinkingT together with the `fluid, and its vulve 3, lrzrves open the opening" of the esoz'rpe-pipe. 6, allowing' the to ,go tojfthe di'orent points where it is wanted. Il li'hen n reduction of the gus pressure orours or it there be no gas pressure ,et all, the Huid goes beek from 2 to 3 by wey olt l-1 and 15 und through both 14 and 15 till the valve 11 closes the pipe 1.4, seid valve 11 being -erranged in such n way that it closes the entry 14 before the level of the lluids in both receivers has reached.- the same height. 'The remainder of the fluid goes only by wsj oi 15 to 3, till liquids ere on o level. When the [luid rises the ioeter 7 rises likewise and the valve 8 is put `before the opening or the escape )ipe G, interrupting` the pesssge of the gus tiil the valve l1 is lifted again by mens For this purpose the lover 1i) 10 i ietore, by the lt the risen up to the contact 28a hereby) the erin 124-.
