ELECTRIC CLOSET APPLIANCE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented March 23, 1909'.
Application filed November 27, 1908. Serial No. 464,570.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MICHAEL D. MURRAY,
a citizen of the United States of America, re-
siding at West Homestead, in the county of 5 Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have -1nvented certain new and useful Improvements in Electric Closet Appliances, of which thefollowing is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to an electric closet appliance, and the object of the invention is to provlde a novel appliance for exteriorly treating and eventua ly curing the common malady known as constipation or 'tiveness.
Another object of my invention is to proyide simple and effective means for agitating the buttock or posterior part of the body, to encourage a discharge therefrom.
I A further object of this invention is to ease and facilitate the discharge of solid and hard evacuations from the bowels, without gripmg pam or tenesmus. I
A still further object of my invention is the provision of electrical means for preventing the retention of fecal matter within the body, beyond the usual eriod.
A still further 0 ject of my invention is to provide an electrical treatment for the reroductive organs of a body, that will prouce ood health and longevity.
Wit the above and other objects in view which will more readily appear as the invention is better understood, the same consists inthe novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter described in detailand then claimed.
Reference will now be had to the drawings forming a part of this application, wherein,
Figure 1 is a cross sectional view of the appliance, Fig. 2 is a lan of a bowl seat equip ed with the a iance, Fig. 3 is a bottom p an of the bowfiid, and Fig. 4 is a cross section of the bowl seat.
In the accompanying drawings, 1 designates a portion of a hopper or bowl provided with a hinged seat v2 and a hinged lid 3, said seat and lid being of the ordinary and well knowntype. .Upon the seat 2 I-arrange a COS- - pad 4, conforming in shape to the seating surface of the seat 2. This pad is made of 'a flexible material, as felt,'and in the pad are located two segment shaped metallic lates preferably ight coplper e si es of the pad and are provide with a plurality of pins 6 lates. hese having ex osed heads 7 at the upper surface of the pa whereby the posterior part of the body can contact with said heads or buttons 7. The lid 3 is provided with a cavity 8 and located in this cavity is a casing 9 containing a battery 10. In connection with the battery 10 a small switch 11 is used, this switch is connected by a wire 12 to one pole of the battery and by another wire 13 to one of the plates 5. The' other pole of the battery 1s connected bya wire 14 to the other plate 5, Whereb when the switch 11 is closed, and the b0 y rests upon the heads or buttons 7, a complete electric circuit will be established. The battery 10 is of the dry cell type and is located in a neat casing that can be mounted in the cavity 8 of the lid or secured to said lid, as would be necessary in connection with the lids of seats now in use. In providing the switch 11, the energy of the battery 10 can be saved, when the appliance is not in use.
, The pad 4 can be made of any desired shape to conform to a seat and as many contacts used as are necessary to insure proper connections.
While in thedrawings forming a 1part of this application there is illustrated t e preferred embodiments of myinvention, I would have it understood that the details of construction can'be varied or changed as to the shape, proportion-and manner of assemblage without departing from the spirit of the in .vention.
seat, a plurality of contacts arranged in said pad, 9. battery carried by said lid for establishing a circuit through said contacts, and a switch for controlling said circuit.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
-MICHAEL D. MURRAY. Witnesses:
