My invention relates to certain improvements in What may be termed ".loading devices/ particularly adapted for use in connection with what may bestyled slip scrapers. V
Said invention has for its object to provide for the ready, expeditious and effective loading of vehicles or wagons as in disposing of accumulated matter, such as dirt, and the like; also, to provide for the carrying out. of all of said objects in a cheapand' simple manner.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain novel'features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be described-and particularly pointed out inthe appended claims.

The parallel bars '17. are'provided just a short distance from the cross bar, 19, with oppositelyextending arms, 19*, for engagement with the keeper, 15, when the car, 6, has been elevated upon the hinged frame section, 18, serving to hold said car in proper position upon said hinged frame section during the dumping operation, as will be noted from the dotted line showing thereof. Said cross bar, 19, would also have the same action in the event of the failure of the keeper member 15 to make engagement with the members, 19, thus providing an additional means for effecting that end.
The hinged frame section is pivoted or connected preferably to the upper part of the main portion of the inclined frame, 2, by means of a .pintle or rod, 23, passing through the central bars, 17, and cleats, 24, secured to the bottom edges of the lateral bars of said inclined frame. The upper end of said hinged frame section has preferably secured centrally thereto a right-angular plate or casting, 25, the purpose of which will presently appear.
A catch, 26, is suitably pivoted at its inner end to ears of a casting, 27 secured to the central upper cross bar of the inclined frame, 2 and hasits effective portion stepped as at 28. for engagement with the upper end of the hinged framesection, 18, for the retention of the same in initial position. The extreme outer portion of said catch is rounded as at 29-, with its outer terminal apertured to re ceive the otherwise free end of a preferred rod spring, 30, whose upper end is fixed in the upper cross bar of the inclined frame. Said spring is retained in operative position by means of a keeper, 31, or other suitable meanssecured to the upper cross bar of said inclined frame. Of course, any other form of spring or resilient means may be substituted in lieu of the rod spring herein shown, Which will equally serve the purpose. The catch 26 has secured thereto, near its inner end, a cross plate, 26?, having lateral flanges between which are received the outstanding portions of the right-angular plate, 25, of the inged frame section, 18, for the retention of said catch in suitably adjusted position on said hinged frame section.
Weighted ropes or cables, '32, have their upper-ends suitably secured to the upper cross bar member of the hinged frame section, 18, said. cables being passed over pulleys, 84,. suitably hung upon the lateral members of, the inclined frame, said. weighted cables serving to automatically return said hinged frame section, with thecar after having been relieved of its contents, to position in the inclined. frame, as in making itsreturn tri down said frame to the pit inclosure, as will be-readilyunderstood.
In: the. operation of thedevice, the car is placed in the pit and after haying received its load it, is raised, by suitably applying the draft to the hoisting rope, ,16, as aboxedescribed, the keeper, 15, of said car, will, upon reaching its final elevated position, engage the right-angular members, 19, and thus effect connection between said car and the hinged frame section, 18. The latch bars, 22, will engage the lateral flanges of the cross plate, 26, of the catch, 26, and thus disengage said catch from the hinged frame section, the continued strain upon the hoisting rope pulling down on the outer end of the hinge section thus effects the dumping of said hinged frame section with the car into the position indicated in dotted lines for the dumping of the contents of said car into a vehicle or wagon. It will be noted that at this juncture, the keeper member ill effect, in connection with the bars, 19, of the hinged frame section, the retention of the car in position up on the latter when in dumped position and will be thus retained until said frame section, with the car, is returned to its initial position in the inclined frame. It will also be noted that the latch bars, 22, will ha '0 the efiect of holding the catch out of engagement with the hinged frame section while being tilted and during the dumping of the car.
It will be noted that the lateral bai s of the frame 1 may serx'e as runneis, as vs ill be observed, in transporting the machine from place to place, and that any of the arious parts upon which wear is received may be armed ith metal in any suitable way. Said bars may also be proi'ided uith keepers for the passage therethrough of suitable means for staking the frame in position.
Fromthe foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction and operation of the in. en tion will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.
Various changes in the form, proportion and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the pr ncipleor sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
Hating thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is:
1. A device of the character described comprising a supporting frame hai'ing a pi:- oted or tilted section, said tilting section and said frame being connected together so as to permit of the disengagement of said frame section, a car traveling upon said supporting frame, said ear having latch bars projecting from its forward edge and adapted to engage the means of connection between said tilting frame section and said supporting frame, and means for elevating said car.
2. In a device of the character described, a supporting frame ha' ing a hinged section, a spring catch applied to said supporting frame and adapted to engage said hinged frame section, a car tra' 'eling upon said supporting frame and equipped with latch tuation of said car.
