This invention relates to duplicating apparatus and refers more particularly to the combination of sheet-feeding devices and duplicating mechanism forming an appz ratus which is capable of efficient and ,reliable operation, which may be run' at coinparatively high speed, and with which superior results are obtained. i

lnv all duplicating machines, and especially in`stencil-duplicators, arranged to deposit the sheets, after they have been imprinted upon, one on top of another, ink on one sheet is apt to he transferred to the back of the overlying sheet and thc impression on the under sheet is apt to become blurred. For this reason, the expedient of `interleaving sheets between the impression-sheets has been employed, this being done either by hand or by depositing an interleaving sheet on top of each impression-sheet after the latterlreachcs the delivery-tray.
Tn accordance with my invention, tWo sheets, one an interleaving sheet and the other an impression-sheet, are fed simultaneously to the duplicating mechanism, one on top ot the other, and the impressionsheet is imprinted upon and the two sheets ted out of the untrhine to the delivorydray simultaneously. Two sheet-feedil'ig devices are employed. one for the interleaving sheets and the other for the impression-sheets, and thesel operate in unison with each other and ,with the printing devices, so that an impression-sheet and an ii-iterleaving sheet are fed together to the printing devices for each operation of the latter. ln this Way, there' is an interleaving directly under each w a may he employed in con.

Cams mounted upon a shaft j, actuated by a suitable hand-piece outside the frame of the machine, serve to move the pressure-roller D to operative or inoperative position, the latter of which positions is illustrated in Fig. 2.
The stencil-carrying drum C is rotated in any suitable manner, as, for instance, hy a handle connected or geared to one ot' the stuhshats c. The roller V is loose on its shaft, but is adapted to be conneeted thereto by a clutch m similar to the elutch gi. This roller carries a pinion mi which meshes with a, pinion n on the shaft of the lower roller N. At the end of the shaft m adjacent clutch m, is secured'a pinion m, which meshes with a pinion o mount-ed for rotation on a stub-shaft extending inwardly from the frame B. Secured to this pinion is aroller o', the surface of which is covered with a yielding` material, such as leather,.felt or rubber. The-roller o is adapted to be actuated by a portion of the'4 duplicating mechanism, so that .the sheet-feedingrollers M and N will operate in unison with this mechanism. For this purpose, I have shown the feed-roll-actuating device as carried vby the drum' C. ln the operation of the machine, a pile of interleaving sheets is placed upon the tray J and moved forwardly thereon between the side-guides carried by the tray until Athe forward edge of the pile abuts against the stopplate z'.
