, Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. '10, 1908.
Application filed. May 8, 1908. Serial No. 431,719.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, WiLLIAM Women and HERMAN H. Sro'r'rKo, citizens of the United States, residing at Burress and Fairmont, respectively, in the county of Fillmore and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Concrete-Mixers; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to'which it appertains to make and use the same, referencebeing had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and'useful improvements in concrete mixers and the object in view-is to produce a simple and eflicient device of .this nature, whereby the various ingredients of the concrete may be thoroughly mixed, and comprises various v details of construction, combinations and arrangements of parts-which will be herein after fully described and then specifically defined in the appended claim.
Our invention is illustrated in the accomanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a sectional View through our nnprovel mixer, parts being shown in elevation. Fig. 2 is an end view of the mixer showing the truck upon which the mixer is mounted inside elevation. Fig. 3 is a sectional view on line 33 of Fig. 1, and Fig. 4
is a detail perspective view.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates the truck of a vehicle mounted upon the wheels B, and C is a platform of said truck upon which a motor 1) is mounted and also shafts E journaled' in suitable bearings thereon. A
I sprocket wheel E fixed to one of the shafts E has belted connection F with said motor, and GrG designate friction driving wheels which are fixed to the shafts E. A'mixing receptacle H has two circular grooved bands or wheels I mounted upon the brackets J about the.circumferen ce thereof, said receptacle being mounted at an inclination be tween said bands as shown. Said friction wheels G contact with said grooved wheels or bands and are adapted to impart a rotary movement to the receptacle.
. K designates a hopper which is stationary and has a feeding worm K therein.
A. sprocket wheelN is fixed 'to the end of the, shaft to the conveyor worm and a sprocket chain .N"connects the same with sprocket wheel N upon one of the shafts F. O designates a clutch collar which splined to the shaft E, and O is an operat ing'lever pivotally mounted at O on a bracket secured to the frame of the device and rovided with a forked end engaging the clutch 0 and is adapted to move the same into or out of engagement with the notch L upon the hub of the sprocket wheel N H of said receptacle H, and T is a pipe leading through the hopper and into the interior of the mixing receptacle H.
Mounted upon the inner wall of the mixing receptacle is a series of stirring racks, designated by letter R and adetail view of one of which is shown in Fig. 4 of the drawings. Said racks are fastened to the inner circumference of the mixer for the purpose of thoroughly agitating the materials being mixed. An exit opening is formed in one end of the mixer and, when the material is thoroughly mixed, it may be 'fed through drawings.
From the foregoing, it will be noted that, by the provision of the apparatus shown and described, a simple and eificient means is afforded for mixing ingredients for concrete and so arranged that the different ingredients will be thoroughly agitated and mixed together.
Whatweclaim to be new is tion with the running gear of a vehicle, a platform mounted thereon and projecting gled bracket arms fastened in diagonal relaence of said mixing receptacle, the latter being mounted atan inclination, a hopper at one end of the; receptacle, bracket arms said hopper, the opposite end of the receptacle having an opening a horizontally distrough having a contracted end telescoping laterally over the wheels of the running gear, shafts journaled in suitable bearings upon said platform, friction driving disks fixed to said shafts, a mortar mixing receptacle, an-
tion with one another about the circuniferfastened to the running gear and supporting posed flange about said opening, a feeding.
Said hopper has a tubular exit projecl tion S projecting into a tubular projection the hinged door M shown in Fig. 2 of the v A concrete mixer comprising, in combina- Within said horizontally disposed flange,. a our si gnai zures the presence of two Witpipe lemdingi ghrgugh the telescgp'gg pormesses; tions 0 sai ee in trough an ange, a 1 feedingl worm in sai trough and extending A 5 into t e contracted portion thereof, and
means for operating the apparatus, as shown Witnesses: and described. 7 V R. T. CLARK,
In' testimony whereof we hereunto affix R. G. HALL.
