As shown, the laterally projecting conveyers K and are similar in construction and operation, and serve for discharging the soil from the rear of the machine, at either side thereof. The lower ends of said swinging conveyers are supported by their operating shafts 7c and Z, and their upper and outer ends are supported by chains and Z running over the sheaves 72 and Z and then wound on the longitudinal hand wheel shafts 70 and Z These sheaves and hand wheel shafts are, it will be seen, mounted on the uprights of the frame or superstructure M, in any suitable manner. Ratchets are provided for preventing back rotation of said hand wheel shafts. The said conveyers are driven by sprocket chains 76 and Z which eX- tend from their outer ends to the short longitudinal shafts in and Z which latter are mounted in bracket bearings at opposite sides of the machine. The short shafts 7c and Z are likewise mountec, and are connected with the shafts and Z by means of sprocket chains 1: and Z and with the shaft by means of bevel gearing 76 and Z as shown. The clutch N associated with the gearing 70 controls the transmission of power to the conveyer K, and is operated by a hand lever a. The clutch O associated with the gearing Z controls the transmission of power to the conveyer L and is operated by a lever 0.
From-the foregoing it will be seen that I provide an improved and highly efficient grader which can discharge the soil at either side, and in which the elevator can be regulated independently of the means for demachine,

Either swinging conveyer can be drawn up to permit the machine to run close to a bank or anything else, and the means thus provided for delivering the soil from the machine can be regulated independently of the elevator. The plow is easily raised and lowered, as is also the elevator. In fact the machine as a whole represents an advanced type of elevating grader, and its advantages will be obvious to those familiar with this art.
What I claim as my invention is:
1. In a ditching and grading machine, a wheeled body frame, a plow disposed at one side thereof, a longitudinally disposed elevator having soil therefrom, a reversible and transversely disposed conveyer arranged in position to receive the soil from the upper end of said elevator, means for reversing the direction of travel of said conveyer, a laterally pro jecting conveyer for each end of said first mentioned or intermediate conveyer, means for raisin and lowerin said laterall rob a P ecting conveyers, a single reversible sprocket chain connection for driving the said intermediate conveyer in either direction, and means for controlling the operation of said laterally projecting conveyers.
2. In a ditching and grading machine, a wheeled body frame, a plow disposed at one side thereof, and with its toe or point outside of the line of the wheels, a longitudinally disposed elevator having its upper end supported upon and operated by an obliquely disposed rotary member, means for driving said rotary member by the forward motion of the and means for raising and lowering the forward end of said elevator relatively to said plow and holding the same inside and in rear of said plow to receive the soil therefrom.
3. In a ditching and grading machine, a wheeled body frame, a plow disposed at one side thereof, means including a vertically disposed rack bar and a pinion engaging the same for raising and lowering the plow, adapted to hold the plow down and means for receiving the soil from said plow.

In a ditching and grading machine, a wheeled body frame, a plow disposed at one side thereof, a longitudinally disposed eleend arranged in position to receive the soil from said plow, a transversely disposed shaft, means connecting said shaft with the lower end of the elevator for raising and lowering the latter, a vertical shaft, means connecting said vertical shaft with said horizontal shaft, and means for rotating said vertical shaft to raise and lower the elevator, said elevator being fixed with its length extending at an angle to the line of travel.

8. The improved elevating grader, comprising a wheeled body frame, a plow dis-- posed at one side thereof, so as to throw the soil inwardly from a line outside of the front wheel, an elevator disposed longitudinally between the sides of said frame and having its lower and forward end fixed in position to receive the soil from said plow, and folding means for discharging the soil from either side of the upper end of said elevator, substantially as shown and described.
9. In a ditching and grading machine, a wheeled body frame, a plow disposed outside of the body frame at one side thereof, an elevator disposed between the two sides of the frame with its forward and lower end in position to receive the soil from said plow, and a beam crossing below the said elevator to swingingly connect the plow with the other side of the body frame.
10.
