SCISSOBS-SHARPENER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 20, 1908.
Application filed August 2, 1907. Serial N 0. 386,743.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JOHN B. CARROLL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Scissors Sharpeners, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is a scissors sharpener, which can be cheaply produced and is suitable for mailing.
The sharpening device is a hard steel wire or strip, preferably secured at or near the margin of the card, a portion of the body of the card adjacent to the wire being cut away to provide an opening to receive one blade of the scissors.
Referring to the accompanying drawing Figure 1 is an elevation of one side of the card, showing the wire secured in place by a sheet-metal fastener, and Fig. 2 is an elevation of the other side of the card, showing the ends of the wire-fastener unfolded.
Advertising matter may be printed on both faces of the card and it may be transmitted through the mails without injury to other matter, having no projecting metal points.
I claim:
1. A scissors-sharpener, comprising a card having a marginal opening, a hard metal strip extending across said opening and seat ed against the edge of the metal fastener secured to around the strip.
2. A scissors-sharpener, comprising a card having a marginal opening and a recess at each side of the opening, a hard metal strip extending across said opening and seated in said recesses, and a sheet-metal fastener and guard secured to the card around the opening and having its ends bent around the strip.
In testimonywhereof, I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
