My invention relates to an improvement in controlling apparatus {or electric circuits, and more specifically to a time switch or other tppitiitlfdS for closing and opening electric lamp circuit at predetermined hours, the lamps of the circuit heing thorehy automatically lighted and put out at the predeermined hon rs.

The cams c are made in such a manner that the extent of the movement given to the arms f and f, when these approach thc shafts c and. c after having; been moved away from these shafts hy the cams, is such, that each partial rotation imparted to the wheel m turns this wheel sufficiently to cause the projecting part of the spring a to pass from the top of one projection on the circun'iierence of the wheel m into the adjacent depression or from a depression to the top of the next succeeding projection.
The operation of the hereinbefore d escribed apparatus is as follows-Assuming the d i'tlierent parts ol? the apparatus are given the positions shown in the drawing, and the clock movement running normally, the two disks 0 are placed. so that one of the hands (Z points to the hour at which the closing of the electric circuit is desired, and the other hand points to the hour at which the circuit is to be opened. Now as the wheel 1) turns the wheels meshing with it, and these wheels together with the disks 0 and the cams c are ()Etll'iCtl by the shafts c and. 0 respectively, l when the hour has come at which the closing of the circuit is to be etlected, the disengagel the saidterminals ment of one of the arms f, f, will be caused by the cam acting thereon. By means of one of the pawls and the ratchet; wheel Z, this arm will cause in its turn partial rotation of the wheel at, thereby moving the spring '12 and closing the circuit. Obviously too, when the hour has arrived at which the opening of the circuit is desired, the other arm will cause in the same manner, the wheel m to be partiall but sutliciently rotated to open. the circuit. if the clock movement is provided with a motor which will run the movement for several days without rewimling, and if, also the positions of the disks c are not changed, the closing and opening of the circuit wilt take place at the same hours on each and every day, so long as the clock movement runs.
I claim as my invention:
1. time switch mechanism comprising a motor, a shaft, means actuated by said. motor for imparting intermittent partial. revolutions to said shaft at pretlctermined and regulatable intervals, a star wheel on said shaft, termina s, and a pair of springs connected to one of said. terminals, and adapted. to bear against the periphery of the said. wheel alltcrnatel the one 1' tinst the point of a tooth and the other ag inst the surface intervening between two teeth thereof, and to be actuated thereby to close an electric circuit through the other terminal and to control movement of the star wheel.
2. A time switch mechanism comprising a motor, a pair of arbors, a disk on each of said arbors driven simultaneously by said motor.
a cam on each of the said disks, a shaft sector members mounted independently on saidshal't, an. arm secured to each sector member, a pin in each arm and adapted. to contact with the face of one-of said cams, means for maintaining the said pins in contact with said cams, a ratchet wheel on said shaft, a pawl on each of said sector members adapted to engage the said ratchet, a star wheel on said shaft, a spring actuated by said star wheel to open and close an electric circuit, and a spring for limiting each movement of the said star wheel.
3. A time switch mechanism comprising a motor, a disk, an arbor on which the same is mounted, a cam on said disk, a shaft, means actuated by said am for imparting inter mittent partial rotations to said shaft, termi nals, a spring connected at one end to one o and adapted at its other end to contact with the other terminal and means on the said shaft for directly actuating the said spring to open. and close an electric circuit.

A time switch mechanism comprising a motor, a disk, an arbor on which the same is mounted, a camv on said disk, a shaft, means actuated l) said cam for imparting intermittent partial rotations to said shaft, terminals, pair of springs each. connected at one end to one of said terminals and each adapted at its other end to make electrical contact with the other terminal and means fixed on said shaft for directly and simultaneously actuating both said springs to open and close an electric circuit.
5. A. time switch mechanism comprising a motor, a disk, an arbor on which the same is mounted, a cam on. said disk, a shaft, terminals, a pair of springs each connected at one end. to one of said terminals and arch. adapted at its other end to make electrical contact with the other terminal, a star-wheel 'liXed to said shaft and provided with an unei'en number of points adapted. to l :11 against each of the said springs to open and close an electric circuit: and means actuated by the said. cams for imparting intermittent partial rotations to the said. shaft and starwheel.
6. A. time switchmechanism comprising a motor, a disk. an arbor on which the same is mounted, a cam on said. disk, a shaft, termi nals, a pair of springs each connected at one end to one of said terminals and each adapted. at its other end to make electrical contact with the other terminal, a star-wheel llXC(l to said shaft and provided with an uneven number of points adapted to bear against each of the said springs to open and close an electric circuit, a sector member loosel mounted on the said shaft, an arm secured in the sector member and adapted to be engaged by the said cam, a ratchet .tixed on the said shaft, a pawl secured on the said sector member and adapted to engage the teeth of the said ratchet and means for maintaining the said arm in contact with the surface of the said cam.
