Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is:

1. A chain-stitch shoe-sewing machine, having, in combination, a needle, looper, thread finger, take-up, auxiliary take-up, and cam-actuated means for preventing the auxiliary take-up from acting to. take up thread during a portion of the cycle of operation, substantially as described.

2. A chain-stitch shoe-sewing machine, having, in combination, a needle, looper, thread finger, take-up, auxiliary take-up, and
