Be it known that 'I, ELPIIEGE J. F015)- rarxn, citizen of the United States, residing at lvoonsocket. in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented new and useful Improvements in Power Transmitting Means, of which the following is a specification.
My invention has to do with power trans mitting 1118815 through which one shaft may be rotated from another; and it contemplates generally the provision of means for the purpose stated possessed of characteris tics calculated to assure transmission of motion without diminution of speed between the drive-shaft and the driven shaft.
Vith the foregoing in mind the nature of the invention and its novelty, utility and practical advantages will be fully understood from the following description and claim when the same are read in connection with the drawings, accompanying and formmg part of this specification, in which:
Figure 1 is a view showing the drive-shaftand the driven shaft in section and also showing in eievation the power transmitter constituting the best ractical embodiment of my invention of wiich I am cognizant. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the transmitter.

Grouped about the shaft A are two paral lel sets of an i-friction rollers, the rollers C of one set being arranged op osite the centers of the spaces between he rollers D of the other set. and the two sets being made up. by preference, of four rollers each. It will also be seen by reference to Fig. 1 that the rollers in each set are arranged in a circular series and that the two sets of rollers are arranged parallel to each other.
Any means compatible with the purpose of my inventi-m may be em )loyed to support the rollers C and D about the shaft A and to effectconnarzian between the disks and said 'sh'ait, without involving departure from the Specification of Letters Patent.

Fixed on the driven shaft B is a circular plate E which is of a diameter to reach be tween the sets C and D of rollers grou ed about and connected with the shaft A, an at opposite sides of the said )late E and fixed with respect thereto are r1 s or lateral projections C and D the rib or lateral projection C being arranged to cooperate with the rollers C, and the rib or projection D to cooperate with the rollers D. As will be observed by reference to Fig. 1, the ribs or rojections C D respectively comprise our (more or less), equidistant protuberances c which are rounded as shown, and inwardly curved portions d arranged intermediate the said protubrrances; and it will also be understood by comparin the full and dotted lines in said figure that the protuberances c of the rib or projection C are arranged oppostle the centers of the spaces between the protubera-nces c of the rib or projection D and "ice versa, this in order to enable one of the rollers C by cooperating with a protuberance c of the rib or projection C to turn the shaft B through a part of a revolution, followed by a. turning of the said shaft through a part of a, revolution by the cooperation of one of the rollers D and a protuberance c of the rib or projection D.
In the practical use of my improvements it will be manifest that on rotation of the shaft A in one direction the shaft B will be rotated in the opposite direction, and this without the diminution of speed between the shafts. It will also be manifest that the transmission of motion is attended by but a minimum amount of friction. This latter is due in large measure to the rounded protuberances c and the imvardly curved portions cl opposed to the rollers C and D.
It will be gathered from the foregoing that in addition to effecting connection between the ribs or projections C and D and the shaft A, the circular plate E serves because of its arrangement, relative to the rollers C and D, to retain each of the ribs C and D. in
alinemcnt with its respective complement of rollers.

In power transmitting means, the combi- 5 nation of two parallel shafts, parallel disks fixed on one of said shafts and disposed at right angles thereto, circular sets of antifriction rollers carried by said disks; the rollers of one set being arranged opposite the 10 spaces between the rollers of the other set,
and the two sets resting between the disks and adjacent to each other, and a circular plate fixed on and disposed at right angles to the other shaft and extending between and 15 arranged parallel to the sets of rollers on the parallel disks and having at its opposite sides my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesscs.
