CLOTHES ;HANGING am. APPLIOATIQN TILED JULY 6, 1907.
ADOLF SCHGNING, OF HILDESHEIM, GERMANY.
CLOTHES-HANGING CLIP.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 4, 1908.
Application filed July 5, 1907. Serial No. 382,388.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ADoLF SoHoNING, a subject of the German Empire, residing at Hildesheim, in Germany, have invented Clothes-Hanging Clips, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved clothes hanging clip, the purpose of which is mainly to economize space in places used for drying clothes, for example, attics and rooms in towns, and to accelerate the drying process by stretching the clothes.
A construction embodying the invention is illustrated in the annexed drawing.
The improved cli which may be constructed of any suita le material, is a double clip, that is to say, two clips are united in one device. The body a, which may be pointed, tapered or rounded at its ends, is centrally recessed at a forming inwardly returned ends a and faced at a a to form, in conjunction with the movable jaws b and 0 two clamping surfaces in the same plane. The said jaws b and c are directly fixed to a plate spring d with returned ends d, the body of which is fastened by screws d to the part a, and the ends by screws (1 to the parts I) 0 respectively, so that the spring serves to carry t e jaws b c and also to press them into closing position. The jaws b c are formed with faces I) c and with tails b c projecting inwardly towards each other.
The soiling of the clothes with dust or rust by laying the clothes over the cord or wire on which they are to be hung is obviated by the provision of holes (1 to engage the cord or wire.
The manner in which the clip is intended to be used is as follows: After suspending a row or series of clothes from the line, a second row or series of clothes is suspended, by means of the clips, from the clothes first hung up, and so on until the space between the line and the ground or floor is entirely occupied by clothes.
What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States 1s:
A double clothes hanging clip comprising in combination a body a having clamping faces a at each end a plate spring (Z affixed to body a and having returned ends (1* and movable jaws b c fixed to the returned ends of the plate spring.
In witness whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two witnesses.
AD. SCHONING.
