To all whom it may, concern;
Be it known that l, THOMAS FLINTOFF, a citizen of the Commonwealth of Australia, residing at Claremont, Western Australia, Australia, and whose post-ofiice address is corner of High and William streets, Fremantlc, Western. Australia, have invented certain new and usehil Improvements in A rtilioial Teeth; and I do hereby declare the l llowing to be a full, clear, and exact deption of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to lott ers or figures of referencemarked thereon, which form. a part of this specification.
The invention relates to improvements in artificial teeth of that type in which the crown is mounted on a metal key having tangs adapted to be embedded in the mouth plate.
The object of the invention is to providea key that will present a large anchorage surface for the crown; one that will be light s .rong and to provide means to cause tric- .lional engagement between the key and crown to permit vertical adjustment of the latter before erm'anently securing the parts together by the vulcanite.
The invention consists in certain'novel features of construction and arrangement ofparts will now be described and illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which- Figure l is a view showing a tooth constructed in accordance with the invention and asattached to a mouth plate, Fig. 2 is a vertical section'of the tootn and keypiece, and Fig. 3 is a horizontal section on line ;rx of Fig. 2.

By bending the pins 0 back from the position shown in Fig. 3, until they come into contact with the rear wall of the recesses, the slanting sides of the key piece will. be brought into contact with the sides of the dovetail key-bed a and hold. the key piece 2') by friction in the adjusted position. Vlhen the key piece is embedded in the carrying member b the soft vulcanit will then fill up the spaces-in the groovesc above and below the pins;
By means of these improvements I obtain a cheap and strong construction for connect ing artificial teeth to their carrying member, thus obviating the expense of platinum inset pins and their costly mode of insertion. It will be seen that the keys with their recesses or key beds form a rigid anchorage for the teeth to their carrying member and further by suchmeans a large anchorage area for the teeth is obtained and so distributing the breaking strain on the tooth, as with the present inset pins, the strain is restricted and therefore intensified onto one part of the tooth.
