Be'it known that LFREDRIK LJuNes'rRoM, a subject of the King of Sweden, residing at Tumba, Sweden, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Liners for Centrifugal Bowls; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, scription of the invention, such as will enable'others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or. figures of reference marked thereon, which form a:..part. of'this specification.
' This invention relates to division "lates which are used in liners for centrifugal owlsof the bowl, and
for-increasing the capacity which intersect the r'adia line of the bowl, thereby dividing the body of the liquid into thin layers. The kind of such liners mostly used consists of superposedconical disks, or plates. These plates are generally made with straight mantles or sides. If such conical plates are superposed over each other, the perpendicular distance between the mantles of two adjacent plates isv the same at the periphery as at the inner edges of the plates. The smaller the space between the plates the greater the number of plates that can be introduced in the bowl and on this depends directly the skimming capacity of the'bowl.

By means of such plates the advantage is obtaihed that the decreasing of the skimming ca acity which is caused-by the great top ang e is more than neutralized by the advantageous inclination of the plates at their lower arts.
As the thickness of the plates is the same all over and the decreasing top angle between their mantles has for consequence that the plates re uire, greater and greater space in vertical r irection the consequence is that the spacesbetween the'plates decrease proportionately outwards, as shown on the drawing. It is obvious that this'fact within certain limits contains no drawback, because the pressure by which the cream is pressed 'inwardly by .means of the skimmed milk increases in proportion to the radial distance from the center-line and at the same time ,the thickness of the cream-layer passing between the plates is decreased.
If relatively thick s aces between them W11 decrease more rapi ly than if thinner plates of the same form are used, for instance, if plates of 1 mm. thickness are used, the decrease of the space between the plates becomes twice as great as if the plates are only one halffmm. thick. It is thus .possible by using thin plates to give the same asmaller and for the skimming ca pacity more advantageous angle at the outer edges without decreasing the spaces between them or the practical limit. For this reason it is advantageous to make the plates of the above mentioned shape very thin, as thereby a considerably greater number of plates can be introduced into a bowl of fixed height and furthermore the skimming capacity of each plate will be increased.
