To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, WILLIAM H. LAFAELLE, a citizen of the United States, residing in Boston, i'n the county ofSuifolk and'State of Massachusetts,have invented new and use. ful Improvements in Power-Shipping Meehanism, of which the following ,isa specificaescribed and illustrated in Lety 420,160, granted to me January 28, 1890, be-
` longs; and it is intended' to be an improvement over and upon the said invention, and
in inventions inwhich the power of a continuously-rotating shaft vmay be transmitted to either or both of two shafts which operate as main shafts in transmitting motion to two l different machines, such as looms, for eX- am le, n
n my improvement the principal objects are to provide greater simplicity, to lessen the liability of any of the shafts becoming bent or-twisted and thus gettingout of line, to provide a better balance of the main shafts, and to provide an improved mechanism, whereby the clutches are directly connected Withthe driving-pulley by means of friction-yokes which are located within the general' limits of the pulley on op osite sides of the web thereof and are direct y operated by a double flange ora pair ofoppositely extendin 'flanges integral with `said web and locatec between thc periphery and tlie hub of the pulley, thereby rendering the mechanism exceedingly compact and rigid.

Having thus flly described my invention/ what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. In a power-shipping Lmechanism of the character described, a central driving-shaft, a central driving-pulley rigid on said shaft, a pair of flanges concentric with the periphery 0f the pulleyand extending outward from opposite sides of the web between the hub and the periphery, curved yokes on opposite sides of the Web of the pulley concentric with the flanges, a pair of oppositely extending main shafts in line with the central shaft,
