WATERPROOFING MATERIAL FOR ARTIFICIAL FUEL.
Specification or Letters Patent.
Patented June 2, 1908.
Application filed Jiine l, 1907. Serial N0. 376,851.
"citizen of the United States, residing at Dillsburg, York county, Pennsylvania, and
CHARLES M. LINTnIoUM, a citizen of the, Unlt-ed States, resldlng at Sudbrook Park,
in the county of Baltimore, and State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Im rovements in Water roofi1w Mal s terial for Artificial Fuel; and we do declare the followii'ig to he a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to artificial fuel made in the form of briquets, and is directed especially to an improved waterproofing material employed for coating the surface of a waterproofing material which may be inpractiee, effectually"exclude rmiiisture from and. presume the briquets in a perfect condition. i
With these and other objects in yie'w, the invention comprises the novel combination of ingredients in the production of waterproofing material, more fully hereinafter described.
The improved waterproofing material con sists of tar and pitch, to which is added gr and lime or plaster of paris and black 03nd of manganese, mixed in suitable proporliiei waterproofed.
has been found byfpraetleal experiment tions in accord. with thenature of the fuel to that an effective waterproofing material may be produced by mixing the materials in the following proportions; tar and pitch combined, 64 parts, lime or plaster of paris, 4 parts, manganese, 1.} parts.
In carrying out the process, add to the tar, if necessary, a sufliei'ent quantity of pitch to attain the proper consistency, and thereafter add to the tarand pitch ground lime or plaster of paris and black oxid of manganese.
This waterproofing material when applied to the briquets will effectually preserve them from the action of moisture, and will, therefore, prevent the briquets from becoming soft, thus )reserving them in a hard perfect condition ior use.
Having described our invention, what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is. V
