To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GUSTAV AYRns, a citizen of the United States, residing at Washin Finishing Members for Tiling, of which the following is a specification.
- .My invention relates to improvements in finishing members for tiling, and it cohsists in the constructions, combinations and arrangements herein described and claimed.
An object of my invention is to provide improved finishing members for tiling ada ted to rmly support the adjacent tiling, an capable of ad ustable engagement with the tiling for meetingthe varying conditions occurring in practice.
A further object of my invention is to rovide improved finishing members for ti ing, which can be conveniently assembled in position and strongly secured in place.
In the accom anying drawings formin a part of this ap ication and in which simi ar reference sym ols indicate corresponding parts in the several views: Figure 1 is a detail perspective view, showingone embodiment of my invention applied as an outsidecorner finishing member to wall tiling and cornice tiling; Fig. 2 is a similar view, showmg my invention applied to wall tiling and base tiling; 3 is a sectional view 'on the line 33 of Fig. 1; Fig; 4 is a sectional view on the line 44 of Fig. 1 Fig. 5 is a sectionalview on the line 55 of Fig. 2; Fig. 6 is a sectional view on the line 66 of Fig. 2; Fig. 7 is a rear perspective view of the cap forming the outside-corner finishing member of thecornice tiling; Fig. 8 is a sectional view, showing a modified form of outside-corner finishing member supporting the adjacent wall tiling; Fig. 9 is a rear erspective view of the finishin member s own in Fig. 8; Fig. 10 is an en view of the finishing member I shown in Fig. 9 as manufactured and before the teeth of the combs have been crossed by the workmen when placing said member in position; Fig. 11 is a rear perspective view of a modified form of the outside-corner cornice finishing member shown in Fig. 7; Fig. 12 is a sectional view through the cornice finishing member shown in Fig. 11 and the adjacent cornice tiling;"Fig. 13 is a view similar to Fig. 8, illustrating a modified construction of the outside-corner finishing member; and

Referring especially to Figs. 1-7 of the drawings, I have indicated at 1 any usual form of interlocked wall tiling, which extends from the base tiling 2 and is finished by the cap, or cornice, tiling 3. All of said tiling is shown positioned in the usual way on walls forming an outside corner. I
The corner finishing member of the cap tiling is shown com rising a metal body portion 4 provided wit sup orting ledges 5 for engaging the adjacent t1 mg, and w1th rearward y converging combs of teeth 6. The converging combs constitute securing means for conveniently attaching the member to the supporting walls as by impressin said combsmtheusu-al backing of cement. en so em loyed, the plastic cement backing will enter etween the several te'eth'of the combs to form a firm suport positively lockedbetween the entire length of the convergin combs. The outer-corner finishing members in engagement with the wall tiling 1 are provided with body portions 9 havin led es 10 for engaging the a jacent tiling, aml with securing combs'of teeth 1 1 converging rearwardl therefrom, in a manner similar to thato' the supports 5 and -combs 36 shown in Fig. 3. One or both ends of the finishin members 9 may be formed with additiona securing means 12, which constitute also abutments for supporting the adjacent finishing members.
The outer-corner finishing members for the base tiling 2 are shown comprising body portions 13 shaped to conform to the configure tion of said tiling, as shown especially-in Figs. 2 and 6. The body ortion is. preferably provided with supporting ledges 14 for en gaging the adjacent tiling, and with rear supporting the upwardly converging combs of teeth 15. The
converging combs constitute securing means for anchoring the members to the supporting walls or backing, and are shown with the teeth provided with flaring outerends- 16 extending behind the adjacent baseltiling. One
end of the member is provided with a comb of teeth 17 constituting su porting or securing -means; the other end said member being formed-with a ledge 18 for supporting the adacent finishing member, and provided with a comb of securing teeth 19 along its edge.
Figs. 8, 9 and 10 illustrate a modified con structron of outside-corner finishing member for the wall tiling 1, comprising a'metal body portion 18 provided wlth supports 19 for slldably engaging and adjustably overlapping the faces of the adjacent tiling 1. Securing combs of rearwardly converging teeth 20 extend'from the supports 19%; the teeth of said combs intermeshing and crossing. It has proven very satisfactory and advanta- 'geous in practice to arrange the teeth on each support 19 parallel to the other "support in position to extend behind the tiling and engaged by the latter.
, Fig.10 is an'end view of the finishing member as formed, before the supports 19 have been bent inward to cause intermeshing and locking of the teeth 20 carried thereby.
Figs. 11 and 12 illustrate a modified construction of theoutside-corner finishing member for the cap, or cornice, tiling. In

Fig. 13 illustrates a mo ification of the construction shown in Figs. '8 and 9, in which supports 24 for slidably engaging and adjust y overlapping the adjacent tiling 1 are bent back against the body portion 25 of the member to constitute a stlflening backing therefor. Converging combs of teeth 26 extend rearwardly from said'supports 24, with their teeth intermeshing and crossing to constitute means for firmly securing the memher in position. Y t

Having thus described'my invention, what I claim-as new therein and desire to secure-by 2. A finishing member for tiling comprisinga body portion provided with supports for slidably engaging and overlapping the faces of -adjacent tiling, whereby said supports will conceal the portions of tiling overlapped thereby and permit sliding adjustment to meet varying conditions of practice, and combs of teeth converging rearwardly from said supports, substantially as described.

A finishing member for tiling comprising a body portion provided with supports for slidably engaging and overlapping the faces of adjacent tiling, and securing means converging rearwardly from said supports in position to extend back of tiling overlapped by the latter, substantially as described.

A finishing member for tiling comprising a body portion provided with supports for slidably engaging and overlapping the faces of adjacent tiling, and rearwardly converging combs of teeth carried by said supports in position to extend back of tiling overlapped by the latter, substantially as described.

A finishing member for tiling comprising a metal body'portion formed with supports for slidably engaging and overlapping the faces of adjacent tiling, and rearwardly converging combs of resilient teeth carried by said supports in position to extend back of tiling overlapped by the latter, substantially as described.
11. A finishing member for tiling comprising a body portion provided with two supports for slidably engaging and overlapping the faces of adjacent tiling, and securing means extending from each support parallel to the other of said supports, substantially as described.

A finishing member for tiling comprising a body portion provided with two sup ports for slidably engaging and overlapping the faces of adjacent tiling, and combs of rearwardly converging teeth carried by said supports, the comb on each support extending parallel to the other of said supports, substantially as described.
13. A finishing member for tiling comprising a body portion, and combs of teeth converging rearwardly from said body portion, said combs arranged with their teeth intermeshing and crossing, substantially as described.
