To all whom itrmayconcern:
1 Be it' known that I-, -'Enw1N BRUEN', a
citizen of -the United States, and'resident. of
Brooklyn, in the county of-Kings-and State of New York; haveinvented cert-aimnew' and Plate r High Linotype Printing Plates,- ofwhich the following is aspecification.
My invention relates to a novel method. of making printing plates froma. lurality of plate-high linotype-Y-bars w ereby thin integral plates may be practically and: 600- nomioally produced, and my invention includes the product resulting from the prac tice of the said method; 1
My inventionis practically designed .to produce t L ematter from a novel form of inotype. n the operation of linotype machines a series of matrices are employed;
and these matrices representing type forming characters are automatically presented across the open, front of a moldjin order to produce the type characters in relief on the ar 01' linotype cast in the mold. The typebars thus produced are familiarly'known as linotype slugs and these are cast type- :high which greatly increases the cost of production.
v The main featurewhioh characterizes my invention resides in making the type-bars or slugs late-high, that is to say of ap proximate y the height ofa stereotype plate,
and then producing thin integral printing elivered'from the machine, a In the accompanying drawing illustrating my invention in the several figures of which i of typ like parts are designated by similarnumerals of reference: Figure 1,' is atop lan. view in perspective ofa plate compose of a series invention, and Fig. 2, is a broken away bottom plan viewthereof. Fig. 3-,:is a fi'agmentary detail view of the binding aIid soldering means I prefer to employ to make. the plates. g p

5. A late-high rinting plateconsisting of p ate-high hnotype bars provided with beveled edges having a semlgcircular groove therein and a binding and soldering wire fused. in said groove substantially as described.
