Description

HUBERT KRN'IZ, OI" BROOKLYN, NEW. YORK.
CLIP ELECTRICAL APPARATUS.
Specicatonof Letters Patent.
Patented Get. 29, 1907.
Application lerl July 5. 1904:. Serial No. 215,330-
To all whom itmay concern:
lle it known Lhat i, HUBERT K RANTZ, a citizen of the United States, residing in the borough of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings, State of New York, have invented an Improved Clip for Electrical Apparatus, of which the following is a specicntion.`
struction of these clips, so that joints, soldered or otherwise, may be avoided and a clip formed adapted tov perform all the duty required of it, out of one integral bar or' conducting material. i'
In the 'accompanying drawings, Figure l is a peri spectiveview oi a bar from which the clip is formed:
Fig. 2 is perspective view of the bar after the Afirst step of manufacture: Fig. 3 is a similar view ot' the clip' after the second step: Fig. 1i is a perspective view of a completed clip: and finition. I
In carrying out thisinvention in my preferred manner I first take rectangular bar of conducting material A. (Fig. l) and squeeze, upset or hammer out; or iatten vout odgewise, the end' portion a'oil the bar to form a;
flat plate-like continuation D at right angles 4to the plane of the bar', as shown in Fig. 2. Imay then nish I' the'edges or' the upset portion by filing or cuttingthe edges to produce a finished appearance` as shown in Fig. 3. I then bend the body of the bar at' right angies orinto an L -shaped form, as shown'iniFig. 4, so
Fig.' 5 is a perspective View of a modii that a portion cof the bar may be afii'xed to a suitehle base and the turned-up part C stand perpendicular to it, With'tlle upset plate D at right angles to the plane the bar c may eitheror' both have holes h formed 'therein, as desired, to form means for securing the clip to the' base or for attachment 'of knife switch blades E to the plate l) as shown by; dotted lines in l5ig.-4.Y
which the vplate-like portion DY is .formed entirely to preferred vform.
Although I have described vvmy preferred manner of making these -clips tobe 'by forming them from a solid Ibar by hammeringV and bending, -I do not limit myself to a clip formed in that manner, as many other Wellto produce such an improved clip. Neither -do I abandon my right to the invention disclosed here in as to my preferred method of making these clips.
I claim as my invention:
An L-shuped -terminal clip for electrical apparatus, comprising a hase of substantial thickness, an opstanding por` to, said upstanding portion having cutaway shoulders at the top and a narrow neck-terminating in an integral plate of less thickness than the opstanding portion and lying in a plane at right angles thereto and perpendicular'fo the plane of 'the base; i
In testimony whereof I have signed my name tothis specification, in the presence of two Asubscribing witnesses.
HUBERT KRANTZ'. Witnesses:
WM. MclNTosH, 'LI-1o fu-OEHRIG.
of the bar r'ro'niwhich it is formed. The plate D and,
In Fig.` 5 I have shown a modified form o f clip C-i one side of the bar instead of centrally, fas-shown in the known processes of manufacture might beadapted.
