Yperfecting'type, anl'its' objectis to provide an iinprovddbi compact and simple mechanism lor associating, cutting; and-transversely folding a plurality of webs lroln a plurality of longitudinal loriners or folders.
A further' object ol the invention is to provide. such mea-nsv allwingpptional or different associations ol the different webs to produce different products.
A further object ol the` invention is to provide a rotary folding and cutting mechanism having a double action at each rotation, whereby its speed i's increased accordingly,- as compared with a cutter and folder which acts on only one product at each rotation.
The accompanying drawing is a diagrammatic iront elevation illustrating the invention.
The drawings show three pairs oi longitudinal folders or lorincrs, to which .two superposcd webs are carried from the printing mechanisms. These. webs are or may he four pages wide, so that the Webs, when slitted, will amount to twelve webs two pages Wide; hut the apparatus is capable oi use with webs of other sizes or Widths, and is not limited in its use to the number or kind of webs hereinparticularly referred to. The
longitudinal folders of each pair are shown side by side, but they may be set at right angles to each other or facing eachother, ii desired, provided their-products are led to the folder and cutter hereinafter described.
Referring specifically' to .the drawing, the longitul .dinal folders comprise three pairs, A andjA, B and Bf, and C and C7. The ijrst pair is provided with a roller l, the second pair witharoller l, and the third pair whithfa'roller '1 Alikewise each pair has a set of grip wheels 2, 3, tand 5,' 2g, 3, 4f and 5f, vand 2H, f/,if/
and A. The three setsof. upper 'and lower lout-page..
wide webs pass respectively'between the rollersan'd the gripping Wheels and are slitted'by the respective slitters 6, B f and 6 .into si-X'setsof wehs,.one"set for each folder, and these webswillhereafterbe indi-- vidually referred to..'
The webs Gand H pass down the. longitudinal folder A,A and the Webs Kand L down the longitudinal folder Cq and the webs M and N down the longitudinal folder C. The first 'two pass between therollers 7and Sand reach the other sets at the-'roller 9, said. other sets passing respectively between the rollers ll'and 116, and

From the roller E) the webs pass lo the female. cutting cylinder D where they are impaled on the pins l() o1' the carrier F and are th en cut by the kniie ll co-L ingr with ainatrix l2 in the female (zoning cylinder D.' Then they pass around with tho carrier and the transverse folding blade 2l, acting radially al. the opening 18,

passing respectively between the rollers lll and l/i, lt and 109, and-105 and 106, and under rollersI lllli and ".l2l., to association between rollers llO and lll, alter which the associated Webs pass under roller 132, between rollers 113 and llA'and thence betr en the l'ernale cutting cylinder E and .roller E and are ii'npaled by the pins 33 on the carrier F, and are cut by the linifefl cri-acting with the matrix l2. in the feniale cutting cylinder E,
these parts being located dianictrically opposite to the similar devices which act upon the other Webs here-- inbefore described. Freni the cylinder the webs now `being considered pass with the carrier and the folding blade 88 acting zit-the opening 37 thrusts tire paper hetweeii the rollers and 3U wh ence they pass lieta-een the tapes 39 and 40. These tapes 41, 42, 43, 44 and 45, and deliver the product to the rotary ily 46 by which the papers are dropped ou the apron 7 movingover the rollers 48 land 4f), this d elivery being 4iss around rollers 35, 3G,-
on the opposite side ol the. folder to the delivery l'or inerly described.v `It will be seen that on each hall ...revolution of the carrier Fdhe folding,r blades and 38 thrust a folded paper between the rollers .19 and 2U, and` 35 and, to the opposite delivery devices, respeetively. The pins l0 and 33 release the forward ends ol the webs al.- the time the papers arc thrust or transverscly'folded. The pins are withdrawn by rocking the levers 50 and A5l by the earns 54 and 55 o the folding blades 2l and 38,.the levers being returned to position by the springs 52 and 53. A A The particular cutting` and folding devices nei-ein rcerred-to, and the means tor operating the saine, will be lound 'specifically described and illustrated in vmy United lStates Patent No. 658209, dated September 18, 1900, and reference is made lthereto ier detailed information 'if desired. v
