STOVEPIPE-HOLDER.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM WYATT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lima, in the county of Allen and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stovepipe Holders; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to improvements in stope pipe holders.

The object of the invention is to provide a stove pipe holder adapted to be applied to a flue to hold the end of the stove pipe in place in the pipe hole to prevent the pipe from slipping out or from being slipped back too far into the flue.

With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as will be here inaiter described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings :-Figure 1 is a sectional view through a chimney and flue, showing the application of the holder thereto and to the end of a stove pipe to hold the same in place; Fig. 2 is a sectional view through a pipe, showing the holder in end elevation; and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the holder.

Referring more particularly to the drawings, 1 denotes the holder, which is here shown and is preferably formed of two strands of wire twisted together, as shown at 2. The strands of wire between the twists 2 are separated or spaced apart, as shown at 3. The spaced strands of wire between the twists 2 form the pipe hole engaging portion 4 of the holder, said portion being bent upwardly at right angles near one of the twists, as shown at 5. The twisted portion of said upwardlybent end is bent downwardly onto the portion 5, after which the ends of the wire beyond the twists are bent to form a pipe engaging hook or band 6. In the ends of the wire strands forming the pipe engaging band are' formed offset coils 7, through which a clamping bolt 8 is adapted to be inserted. A nut 9 is screwed onto the bolt 8, thereby drawing the coils 7 together and tightly clamping the hook or band 6 into engagement with the stove pipe. The twists 2 at the opposite end of the pipe hole engaging portion 4 are bent upwardly at right angles to said portion and the ends of the wire at the upper end 01": said twisted portion are then bent downwardly on each side of the latter and project below the pipe engaging portion, as shown. The ends of the wire which project below the pipe hole portion 4 are bent slightly forward to form a stop 10 to receive the inner end of the pipe, thereby limiting the inward movement of the same and preventing the pipe from being pushed too far into the chimney flue.

When the holder is arranged in place, the upwardlybent twisted ends of the same are adapted to engage the outer wall of the chimney adjacent to the outer end of the pipe hole and the wall of the flue adjacent to the inner end of the hole, thereby supporting the holder in place. When the holder has been thus arranged in the flue the end of the stove pipe isslipped through the band 6 until the inner end of the same is in engage ment with the stop 10, after which the nut 9 is tightened up on the bolt 8 to clamp the hoop or band 6 into tight engagement with the pipe, thereby preventing the casual withdrawal of the same from the pipe hole. The stop on the inner end of the holder prevents the pipe from being pushed into the flue and thereby interfering with the draft of the chimney.

From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.

Various changes in the form, proportion and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention, as defined by the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

A stove pipe holder formed 01 two wire rods twisted together to form a pipe hole engaging portion, upwardlyhent wall engaging" portions formed at the ends of said pipe hole portion of the holder to engage the outer wall 01' the chimney and the wall of the flue, a clamping band formed on one end of said pipe hole portion, coils formed on the ends of said band, a clamping bolt and nut arranged in said coils, whereby the band is clamped into engagement with the pipe, and a downwardly and inwardlyprojecting stop portion formed on the opposite end of the holder to receive the inner end of the pipe, substantially as described.
