Application filed .lune 7, 1906. Serial No. 320.605. I
l laying drawing.
Our machine is particularly adapted for amusement parks, arcades, banks and resorts, Where small coins .l or theirA equivalent are handled in large quantities,-
and Where considerable time is lost in counting and 'making change. Our invention aims to obviate the counting of coins or disks, and to provide a machine which will accurately deliver a predetermined nurnbei' of coins or disks at a time.
The invention lui-ther resides in the novel Construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be presently described iu det-.til and specifically pointed out in the appended claims. l
Reference will now be had to the drawings formingpart of this specification, wherein similar numerals ot with two of the improved devices arranged therein,-
Fig 5, is n. iront elevation ci a casing having s, plurality ol' .the improved devices armugezl therein, upon a smaller scale, Figj, is a perspective View of one of the improved devices enlarged, showing the plunger in .the salue position ns in Fig. il, Fig. 7, is asimilar view ol u. device, illustratingr the ':lrrying-plunger purtiolly moved, Fig. H, is :i pluri oi :t counti|igdevico coniuiuing disks, und Fig'. 5), is a cross sectional view enlarged 'ol' one o1' V[he devices, with lluplunger ,removed lhci'efrom.
' lo put our invention iolo practico, we molex-ably arranged our nnu'hiues in u cus-ing l ,suppor'ujd in au olovatcd position by legs 3 or similar supporls. lipou the bottom 21 ol the casing is arranged a plurality of u ated to deliver one or more coinsrdglgks, the come` the improved coin or disk counting deyices, each of which is independently operated to deliver aprescribed number of coins or disks. t
Each device consists of 'an oblong frame 3 in which is slidztbly mounted a coin or'disk-carrying plunger comprising a plate 4 having a central opening 5, the
upper edges of which'arc beveled, as at 6. The one' -end of the plate 4 is provided with a rod 7, which protrudes through the frame 3, as at 8, and through the front Wall 9 of the casing 1. The outer end 0f the rod 7 is provided with a button or plate 10, upon which is placed a numeral to designate the number of coins or disks delivered by the device. The opposite end o f the plate 4 is provided with a rearwardly extending pin 11, while 1o the rear end of the frame 3 is fined a tube 12 adapted to telescope said pin. Between and surrounding said pin and tube is a coiled spring'l4 adapted to normally hold the plate 4 at theforwaird end of the frame 3. I
Mounted upon the-frame 3 at the rear end'of the plate 44 is a tube carrying plate 15, the vertical disposed tube 16 of Said plate lying directly above the opening 5 of the plate 4. The upper end of the tube 16 is beveled as at 17, and this tube is adopted to contain the coins or disks to be counted. In the casing 1 is mounted an inclined plate 18 which extends into Close proximity to the beveled ends of the tubes 16. The plate 18 is recessed, as at 19, to convey To insure n irpc and easy movement of the eeinprA l disk carrying pliingers, we provde'the side rails 22 ofthe frames 3 with tongues 23 adapted to' engage in grooves 24 oi the plates 4 of said plungers.
In order that prescribed quantities of coins er disks may be dispensed by the machine, we provide the bottom 2 of the casing 1 with an opening 25, beneath each frame and to the rear ol' thc plates 4,'whcreby the openings 5 of saidplatcs can be moved to rcgiser with the openings 25 ol the casing.
The plungcl's of the devices vitry in thickness according to the number of coins orldisks to `be delivered,
the plunger of the first device simply holding one coin f or disk, which is dispensed by the uuu-bine when Said plunger is pushed inwardly, trimis.[c1'rin,f,f-. llui-coin or disk from beneath one of the tubes` l'to one olthe 0penings "olilu 11i-.whine Thecaishierorpersovling the j; .A iii-.whine places their hand beneath the mac xine to catch thi-coin or coinsdispensed thereby.
Aller :t coin or disk e'm'iyiug-pluuger has been :tdt
disks remainingr in the tube above said plunger a're held by the forward imperierate end oi the plate 4 of said plunger, and in'nnediately upon the plunger being returned to its normal position by the spring 14, the 5 coins or disks descend into the opening,r 5 of said plunger stored in the tube 1G and those confined Within said opening are ready to be movedforward to one of the openings25 of the machine.
Referring nowV to Figs. 4 and 5 of the drawing, eit will be observed that we have provided the casing with eleven plungers, this number being preferable on account of obtaining a large nnmbe` o cenjlbinations with a, minimum number ol coin or disk-carrying plungers. The counting devices have been consecutively arranged to deliver from one to teu coins or disks, and one device to deliver twenty, whereby by using one or more plungers or some ot' the pl ungen-s twice, any desired number of coins or disks can be easily obtained.
Having fully described our invention` what we Claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Pzitent, is:-
1. A coin and disk counting;v machine embndyiugfan ele vatod easing, an inclined recessed plate arranged within said ing, a hing-ed lid carried byv said easing and havingr recesses formed ltherein adapted to aline with the rem of said plate when said lid is in open position, a plurality oi eoin or disk carrying: plune'ers.slidably mounted in said casing. a vertically disposed tube mounted above each pioneer 4and-adapted lo receive eoiu or disks from the recesses oi said lid and platt., said plungers consisting` of 'B-bplates adapted lo transfer coins or disks from sind tubes #the exterior ol said casing, means to normally hold said piates ent-.ath said tubes, and means actuated from the exterior el the easing to move said 'plun;,er:-3,y substantially as described. i
2. in a devieo of the' class described, a casing.: includinglr a bottoni member having a plurality of spaced dsebarfre apertures, guides arranged invpairs at each side ot said apertures` a eoin tube disposer! vupon each pair ot' said guides. a plurzdit'iY ot' plumiers of graduated tliielmess movalrly disposed respeelivelvwithin said guides and beneath said tubes, and enel] formed with an mperforate and a perforat'e portion, and means for operating said plungers to cause the perforated portions of the same to be alternately disposed beneath said tube and over the apertures in said easing bottom.
:L ln a device of the class described, a easing;r iueludirmr a bottom member having a plurality o1' spaeed discharge aporturesra plurality of eoin tubes eorresporulingr tosaid apertures und spared therefrom, a plurality ot plungers corresponding to said tubes and apertures and of graduated tliicknessand disposed for motion beneath said tubes and within said apertures and each formed with a pei-forato and an iniperlorat-e portion, and means for operating said plungers to enlise the perforated portions to bealternntely disposed beneath said tubes und :Above the apertures in said easing bottom.
4. ln a leviee ot' the class described, a. easingliueludin,"r a bottom having a diseharee .'iperlure. a frame ineiudiug spaced sides forming' guides disposed al opposite sides of said aperturefa foin tube having,r a lateral base bearing: upon said' spueed side guides and spaeed from said aportu're, a plunger movably disposed between said guides and beneath said tube and above said aperture, said plunger having an .hopen-forato and a poi-forato portion, a spring: lwaring' between said pluneer and trame and opt-lattineI- to ,rielda'bly maintain the plunger with its perforated portion beneath said tube, and means for actuating: said piungers te cause the perforated portion thereof to be disposed above the discharge apertures,
in' testimony whereol" we a'lix our signatures in the presence oi two witnesses.
