Description

' PATENTED JULY 10, 1007.
- I. N. DAVIS.
RBVOLVING STAND. APIPLIOATION FILED AUGA. 1906.
l Y A 1 UNITED STATESl PATENT oEEIoE.
ISAAC N. DAVIS, OF WYALUSING, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO FISHER WELLES, OF WYALUSING, PENNSYLVANIA.
REVOLVING STAND.
Specification of Letters iPatent.
atented July 16, 1907.
Application filed August 4, 1906. Serial No. 329,225.
' United States, residing at Wyalusing, in the county of Bradford and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Revolving Stands, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates generally to revolving display stands, and more particularly to one intended to hold and display a number of pickle jars or receptacles, but it will of course be understood that the stand can be used for other purposes if so desired.
The object of the invention is to provide a stand in which the platform holding the jars can be revolved for the purpose of bringing around any particular jar desired, and another object is to provide for the revolution of the covers with the jars, so that the jars will remain covered at all times, except when the cover is thrown back for the purpose of gaining access to any one of the jars. p
Another object of the invention is to so connect the covers that when a cover is thrown back for the purpose of opening the jar, this cover forms a support for the box orreceptacle into which the articles removed from the jar are placed.
With these various objects in view my invention consists essentially in providing a suitable fixed platform having a vertical standard projecting upwardly through the center thereof, a movable platform turning upon said standard and fixed platform, said movable platform being adapted vto hold a plurality of jars or receptacles, a cap arranged upon the end of the standard and adapted to turn thereon, said cap having a plurality of arms hinged thereto, each arm having a cover hinged at its opposite end, said covers being adapted to fit upon the jars and so constructed that when the platform is revolved, the covers will be caused to move with the jars.
The invention consists also in certain details of construction, hereinafter fully described and pointed out in the claims.
In the drawings forming apart of this specification Figure 1 is a perspective view of a .revolving stand constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2
standard or post C, projecting vertically through the center of the said platform. The platform A is prefer# ably circular inform and has a circular groove A produced in its upper face and in which travel the antifriction balls D which are held between the fixed platform A and the movable platform E, said movable platform turning upon the post or standard as a center,`
and its lower surface has a circular groove Ef, which mates with the groove A, and in which the balls D travel. The platform E is preferably in the shape of a quatrefoil, but it will be understood that it may be any other shape desired. When constructed as described, it is adapted to support four jars or receptacles F, and each jar or receptacle F has a cover Gr, said covers being so constructed as to fit into the top of the jar as most clearly shown in Fig. 2. Each cover G has a curved arm H, pivotally connected thereto at H and each arm is pivotally connected to a cap I which is arranged upon the reduced end/of the post or standard C, the cap I being provided with parallel pivot-lugs If, between which the ends of the arms are pivoted. The cap I is free to turn upon the end of the post or standard and consequently whenever the movable platform is revolved for the purpose of bringing around any'particular jar, the cap will turn vupon the post inasmuch as the covers fit into the upper ends of the jars and consequently turn with the jars. When it is' desired to remove anything from one of the jars, the cover is lifted and turned back as shown in Fig. 2, and it will be noted that the arm and cover then form a support for a box or receptacle into which the merchandise can be placed, each arm having a lug K produced thereon adjacent the pivoted end H, which lug forms a stop for the purpose of holding the cover in an inverted and horizontal position. i
It will thus be seen that I provide a simple and eflicient construction of revolving stand in which any particular jar can be quickly and easily brought around,` and one in which all of the jars will be kept covered at all times, except when it is desired to obtain access to the said jar, and then the cover of the opened jar is made to provide a suitable support for the box or carton into which merchandise is to be placed.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new` and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:-
1. A display stand comprising a fixed platform having a standard projecting vertically therefrom, a movable platform turning around the said post and upon the fixed platform, said movable platform being adapted to hold a plurality of receptacles, a cap arranged upon the upper end of the standard and adapted t0 turn thereon, and a plurality of covers connected with the cap and adapted to turn therewith.
2, A display stand comprising a xed platform having a standard projecting vertically therefrom, a movable platform turning upon the fixed platform and about the standard, as a center, a cap arranged upon the upper end of the standard and arms connected to said cap, carrying covers.
3. A display stand comprising a fixed platform and standard, a movable platform turning upon the xed platform and about the standard as a center, a cap arranged upon the end of the standard, arms pivotally connected to the said cap and covers pivotally connected to the opposite ends of the arms, all of said parts being arranged and l5 adapted to operate substantially as described.
