Be it known that I, GILBERT WRIGHT, a citizen o the United States, residing at Pittsiield, in the county of Berkshire and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful improvementsA in Switch- Clips, oi' wh ich the following is a specification.

This invention relates to electric switches and has for its objectthe provision of s device of this character which is cheap and simple but at the same time` is thoroughly reliable, safejand durable.

My invention has to do more particularly with that part of the sivitchiamili rly known, especially in connection with lever switches, as the switch clip and iti\is the further object of my invention, therefore, to

The further objects of my invention and the advantages thereof will be made to appear in the course of the following specification, while the invention itself and the scope thereof will be set forth in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this application.

Referring to Figs. l to 3, the clip consists or' two siniilar opposed members l l and a foot piece 2 which holds.

The abutting face of the member `also has a depression 3 stamped therein and providedv with a thread 1i which is formed during the stamping or pressing' operation by means of a threaded studinserted in The die. The base 2 is a separate stamping, having lugs 5 6 turnedup from the dotted position, shown, to retain the fasteningfor the lend wire or fuse. This form oi clip can be made with a very slight amount of waste stock, the clip members being formed of strip copper with no waste 'whatevem whiie the amount of stock cut out from the base is very slight. With the exception of the one hole tapped for the lead screw all the operations on the parts are performed in the press and are, therefore, very economical from the labor standpoint.

In Figs. 4 to 6, l have shown a modified forro.y In this construction the clip 'members are formed inline same way with offset portions with screw-threaded te pression and flanged ends. rihe foot piece 9, however, is integral with the clip members which'are held together by means of rivets l@ and the retaining.,T collar 11, which is placed in the die before punching' and the metal forced into it to form the hub l2 for a terminal screw. The collar serves to hold the two halves oi the entended'oot together and prevents spreading when the screw is inserted. The hole in this hub is tapped after punching. A buffer or stop llfor the blade 1.4 is

made of a piece of iron, as shown, with the end reduced to Vform a shoulder which abuts against the shoulder of the clip members. The hole 'rler this stop is formed in each member during the first operation. Y What I claim new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the nited States, is,
