Haven, in the county of Ottawa and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Molds for Cement Bricks; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to improvements in molds for cement bricks and like articles; and its object is to provide a simple and convenient manually operated device and to provide the same with various new and useful features hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed out in the claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1. is a'vertical section of a device embodying my invention taken on the line 11 of Fig. 2.; Fig. 2. a plan view of the same; Fig. 3. a side elevation of the same; Fig. 4. an end elevation of the same; Fig. 5. a transverse sectionof the same; and, Fig. 6. a perspective detail of a plate used while filling the molds.

represents any convenient support upon which is placed a board or pallet 2 on which the bricks are molded and which supports the same until hardened, a sufficient number of these being provided to accommodate the quantity of bricks made during the time required for them to set sufficient to be handled.
3 represents the mold proper which consists of a series of cells open at both top and bottom, each cell having vertical walls and being of the horizontal dimensions of the bricks to be formed therein. This series of cells forms a rigid frame provided with a han dle 10 at each end for manipulating the same as hereafter explained. Near the respective corners of this series of cells are guide posts 4 extending upward therefrom and rigidly secured thereto. These posts present vertical parallel surfaces to guide the relative movement of the cells, and the stripper frame, which latter consists of a plate 5 to the under side of which are attached a series of downwardly projecting followers 6 having bottom parts in all of the ed on the plate directly above the respective cells and adapted to rest upon and engage the contents thereof.
At each end of the plate 5 are downwardly projecting guides 7 secured thereto and adapted to slidably engage the opposing surfaces of wardly projecting lugs 8 to in like manner engage the outer edges of said guide post and thus insure vertical movement of either the followers or the cells. These guide frames 8 project downward a proper distance to engage the pallet 2 simultaneously with the engagement of the followers 6 with the upper surface of the contents of the molds.

The drawing shows the device filled and arranged in positionfor removal from the bricks, which is done by manually raising the cells while holding the followers firmlv down upon the upper surface of the bricks, whereby the walls of the cells rise vertically between and around the followers a suflicient distance to be above the plane of the bricks and free therefrom, and the guides 7 by engaging the pallet prevent the followers from crushing the bricks. Both the followers and cells are then removed and the pallet 2 with the bricks thereon removed from the support 1 and another pallet placed thereon. The follower and parts attached are then wholly detached from the guides and laid aside until the cells are again filled; and the empty cells are then placed in position on the pallet with the plates 11 upon the guide post 4, the cells then filled with material and struck off on the top in the usual way; the plates 11 then removed and the follower placed in the position. shown in the drawings, the posts 4 and guides 7 serving to accurately locate the same, and the operation repeated as often as occasion requires.
What I claim is: i
1. The combination of a mold consisting of a series of rigidly connected cells open at the dimensions slightly less than the horizontal dimensions of the respective cells and ad usttop and bottom, guide posts on the mold, a detached stripper plate, a follower for each the guide posts 4 and also provided with out- I also provide two plates 11 of sheet metal, one being shown in Fig. 6., each having the cell attached to the stripper plate, and guides attached to the said plate and slidably engaging the sides and edges of the posts.
2. The combination of a pallet, a mold consisting of a series of rectangular cells having parallel vertical walls and rigidly connected to each other, vertical guide posts rigidly attached to said mold and projecting upward handles on the mold and plate to manually and se arately operate the same.
3. T e combination of a mold consisting of a series of cells open atthe top and bottom, guide posts at the respective ends of the mold, a stripper frame having guides slidably engaging the posts, and plates having folded edges to detachably engage the posts.
4. A device for molding concrete bricks comprising a platen, a series of rigidly connected cells open at top and bottom and hav ing parallel vertical walls, vertical guide posts at the respective corners of the series of cells, a follower plate, followers attached to the plate opposite the respective cells, guides attached to the plate and slidably engaging the posts and also'adapted to engage the platen and support the followers, handles on the cells and follower plate, and
plates having folded edges adapted to detachably engage the posts.
