Description

PATENTED JUNE 4, 1907.
H. MORI. DRAIN TILE.
APPLIOATION FILED I'EB.19, 1907.
Q bm @8 5 hi use:
i-Qlll, OF HARTVILLE, (EH10.
Apollo To all whom 71mg ounce Be it known that I, l-lnntre citizen of the United States, (1' lg st 525ml L ville, in the county of Stark and State o Ohio, have invented certain new and s Improvements in Drain-Tiles; and I do hereby declare the following to be it full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such. as Will enable others skilled in the art to which it epperteins to moire end use the same.
My invention relates to ar'l useful iniproveinents in drain tile and QGi} is to provide a device of this kind whereby the Water may have ready access to the tile and be carried oil thereby and the gases collooting in the tile be permitted to escene.
A further object is to provide means for interlocking the meeting ends of the tile whereby the same will be prevented from becoming misplaced after being laid the trench.
ther objects and adventogos will hereinelter referred to and more particularly pointed out in'the tln'iinsv In the ocoompenying (ire; i s \vhicli made it part o'f-this application, Figure l. s
Iside ele ation of my improved form of tile.
Fig. 2 is a top plan glow thereof. 3 is an end elevation of the tile as seen on line 3-3 Fig. 1. Fig. 4 1S asectional vies as on line 4-4 Fig. 1, and, Fig. 51's it top plan view of a slightly different form of tile showing th a. neck is provided one end of the-tile provided while the opposite end there v with a socket.
Referring to the i'lrawings in which similar reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout thev several views, 1 inclicates a tile which is tubular and provided on its upper surface with a plurality oi bores 2 through which the water, etc., pereolating through the earth niayreadily enter the opening 3 disposed longitudinally"throughuthe tile. At a point diametrically opposite the bores 22, the outer surface of the tile 1 is llsttoned as shown at l so that when the tile is laid in a trench the same will be prevented from rolling or otherwise becoming casually displaced.
ifioation or" Patent,
Hen filed February 19,1931 g m N0 3,5852%! Patented June 1536? tile together and. cause the openinginthe sov- I eral tie to register l pr'vide slots 5 in one end of re tile, one upon each side thereof and st diametrically opposite points, and the op positeend thcreoi with similarly disposed tongues 6, the end walls of the slots 5 being tapered outwardly While the engaging edges of the tongues are correspondin ly tapered to lit the tapered portions of the slots so that when the tongues upon one tile placed into engagement Wi' 1 the slots upon the opposite tile-said tiles will he held against latera movement, the interlocking action of the tongues with the slots rendering the several tile substantially rigid from end to end of the drain.
In Fig. 5 of the drawings l have shown the tile as provided at one end with a reduced portion to tonne neo Z. while the "opposite end thereof is enlarged interiorly to form a, socket Whiohi iii-pied to receive the neck of the next suceeding tile and thereby forming means for readily securing the several tile to ether.
t will be seen. thet l have tile where by the water on other seepegeswill have ready access to the tile "and one wherein any gases entering the tile may have ready egress therefrom. It Wl ll further be seenthat I have provided means for interlocking tlie severaltile so thztt the will be substantially rigid throughout the length oft-he drain.
What I claim is:
1. The herein (lGSCIlbGl'l'tllG for dreins neving a flattened portion upon its outer surface and a plurality of openings at a point diernetrioally opposite the flattened 'iortion, a pair of tongues at one end of said. tile and. 9. pair of slots at the opposite end. thereof, ssirl tongues and slots having tapered Walls whereby when the tongues upon one tile are 'disposed into engagement with slots upon the next sue needing ti le, said tongues end slots Will be iii--- terlooked.
2. The herein described drain tile having a longitudinal opening theretlnough, e flat te ned portion on the outerperiphery of the provided a I ZOO tile uml eXtending longitudinally thereof to name to this specification in 1,110 presence, u'l for? 1 base, a plurality of bores through the two-subscribing Witnesses.
