Description

No. 854,151. PATENTED MAY 21, 1907.

' J. DEASY.

WINDOW CLEANER. AiPLIOATIOR FILED 00m. 1906.

Q/Vitnemu m l i consists of a triangular or flared nozzle 8 pro JOHN DEASY, OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN.

WINDOW-CLEANER.

Specification of Letters Patent.

Patented May 21, 1907.

Application filed October 2,1906. Serial No. 837,062.

T0 on whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, JOHN DEASY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Detroit, in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented new and useful Improvements in VVindow-Cleaners, of which the following is a specification.

This invention is a window-cleaner of that type having a brush and a Water supply thereto so that water is sprayed upon the window or other article being washed while the brush is in operation.

The object of the invention is to provide an improved device of the kind, characterized particularly by improved means for supplying water to the brush.

The device is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device. Fig. 2 is a section on the line 22 of Fig. 1.

Referring specifically to the drawings, 6 indicates a brush of any suitable kind, manipulated by means of a handle 7. The fountain attachment for supplying water to the brush vided along its front or upper edge with a discharge slot 9 which has a lip 10 projecting over the same to deflect the water and discharge the same forwardly toward the brush, or toward the window just above the brush.

At its rear corner the nozzle has a coupling 11 by which it is connected to a hose 12 1 through which water may be supplied from any suitable source. The nozzle is attached to the back of the brush by means of screws 13 which extend through cars 14 formed on opposite sides of the nozzle and extending outwardly in proper position to lie against the brush back.

' The water is discharged from the nozzle in a thin wide'fihn or spray which flows over the brush and against the window so that the same can be rapidly and effectively cleaned by manipulation of the brush. Inasmuch as the spray strikes the window before it reaches the brush it acts as a washer to dislodge and wash off dirt by the force of the spray, in addition to the ordinary scrubbing action of the brush.

I claim2- The combination with a brush, of a water supply pipe having a nozzle fixed to the brush back, the nozzle being flared laterally and having a discharge slot at its front edge and a lip projecting over said slot to deflect the water over the brush, and also have laterally extending ears to which the brush is attached.

In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.

JOI-IN DEASY.
