Be it known that I,.JonN\M.l )UNsMoRE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Thayer, in the county of Neosho and State of Kansas, have invented certain new andvuseful Improvements in Picture-ProjectingAp-` paratus, of which the following is a specification. v j

This invention has for its object to devise ro novel means for projecting the picture of a person or object upon' a screen and at the same-time producing-the efectupon .a spectator that the sound produced by a person or object emanates from the picture von the IS screen, said p icture being a true representation of the original and giving all the lifelike movements thereof.

The invention contemplates: a Acabinet of such construction as to suppress or deaden all noise or sound produced therein except such as escapes througha projecting tube4 which is designed especially for throwing the sound so as-to give the impression that the same is produced by the picture appearing Theinterior of the cabinet therewith Ito throw the picture ofthe person or object upon the screen placed in front of the cabinet or in such osition relative thereto as to receive both t e ,picture `and the projected sound.

The cabinet-is of a size tol receive a person and various objects and contains alamp 3 or illuminator for lighting the interior of the cabinet and pro'ecting -the picture 'iipon a screen through t e instrumentality of a lens 4 and mirror 5, the latter being located exte- `rior to the cabinet and about in the plane of the bottom thereof and in suehposition as to receive the rays of light projected from the ob'ect through the ,lens 4.

n the event of the illuminator consisting of a lamp, the hot air and gases are carried ofi' through a tube 6 which is arranged horizontally near the u per portion of the'cabinet and'set in the si e thereof provided withtlie lens 4. The inner end of the tube 6 flares, as,

indicated at 7, to collect the sound from within theeeabinet and direct the-same outward so as to' produce the effect uponthe spectators of said sound emanating `from the picture projected upon the screen 8. It .will

thus be understood that the tube 6 performs i the double function of a vent, as well `afs a sound conductor, the outward current of hot air and gases also serving to give direction to the escaping sound wav'es.
