The invention has special reference to the gonnection of the type-bar to its supporting- The objects of the invention are to provide simple and efiective means for readily and securely connecting the type-bars to the supporting-bar, and which shall facilitate the travel of the interposed antifriction bearings and shall also afiord the advantages of permitting the type-bar to be removed from the supporting-bar without disturbing the companlon type-bars.
To that end the invention consists in the improved construction and combination of the com onent parts of a coupling by means of whic the type-bar is connected to the supporting-bar as hereinafter described and claimed. j

1denotes thesegmental bar formedround in cross-section and dis osed in the position of an inverted arc, an which may be attached in any suitable and convenient manner to the type-writer-frame (not shown) to serve as a common support for the set of type-bars, and 2, denotes the usual platen designed to be mounted upon thecarriage of the machine in the well known manner. The. said segmental bar is provided with a series of circumferential V-shaped grooves 33 disposed radially in relation to a common rinting-point, indicated at 4, on the p aten, it being obvious that these grooves correspond in number to the type-bars to be em loyed.

The larger end of the type-bar 5- is formed with a segmental yoke 7 adapted to straddle the supporting-bar 1..
