Be it known that I, JAMES ODown, a sub ject of His Majesty the King of Great Britain and Ireland, residing at Tapanui, in the Provincial District of Otago, in the Colony of New Zealand, have invented certain new and a useful Improvements Relating to Roof-Gut-' ters, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to gutters of roofs, and provides an improved cover for said gutters,wherebydust and dirt areexcluded and I birds are prevented from building under the roof. The cover also acts as a stay or support for the gutter.
, According hereto lengths of plain galvanized iron each:having a flange upon its outer edge to fit over the molded'edge of the gutter ing, are nailed upon the roof in such manner that their flanged edges may be sprung over the molded edgeof the guttering to hold it securely in position.
Referring to the accompanying drawing,
Figure 1 is a sectional elevation,- and Fig. 2 a
front elevation, showing the invention.
The lengths 1 ofplain galvanized iron have a flange 2 upon their outer edge adapted to fit over the molded edge 3 of the guttering 4.
The lengths of iron 1 rest upon the convexi ties'of the corrugated iron 5 composing the cured by nails 6, one of which is shown in the Figs. 1 and 2. Rain-water runs down the through the spaces between the lengths of iron 1 and the said depressions and into the guttering/i.
