NON-REFILLBLE BOTTLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 19, 1907.
Application filed .Tune 22,1906. Serial N0. 322,980.
T0 all whom, it Wray concern.-
Be it known that I, LOUIS ERNEST LEO- POLD THEMKE, a subject Of the Emperor of Germany, residing at Strathcona, in the Province Of Alberta, Canada, have invented new and useful Improvements in Non-Refillable Bottles, Of which the following is a specification.
The Object Of my invention is tO provide a bottle, which having been emptied cannot again be refilled.
My invention is composed of few parts and these are preferably Of glass; but other material may be used for some of the parts, if desired.
The peculiar construction of the several parts and the means employed for holding same in place are such as to eflectually prevent tampering therewith for the purpose Of lifting the valve Or Otherwise permitting of the introduction of a liquid Of any kind to replace that 'which has already been withdrawn from the bottle.
My invention is clearly shown in the accompanying drawings, whereon- Figure l is a side elevation Of my non-rellable bottle, the upper part Of the bottle and parts connected therewith being shown in section. Fig. 2 is a side view Of a device adapted to fit the inside Of the neck Of the bottle to retain the valve-seat in position and to limit the opening of the valve. Fig. 3 is a top view Of the valve-seat, and Figs. 4 and 5 represent side and bottom views thereof.
On the drawings the letter A designates a bottle the neck Of which is pro vided internally with annular grooves b b and near the lower end with a shoulder c to receive a packing-ring or washer d, Of rubber or other iieXible material, and on which rests the-annular projecting collar e of a valve-containerf, which is provided with upper and lower chambers g 7i, the former having a valve-seat t' and the latter a valve-rod Orifice 7c and a number Of Openings Z, forming means of communication between the interior of the lower valve-chamber and the bottle proper.
The valve consists Of a spherical ball M, preferably of ground. glass, having a downwardly-projecting stem Or guide-rod. 'm and in direct line therewith an upwardly-proj ecting conical point n, the guide mv being adapted tO operate in the Orifice 7c of the valveretainer f and the valve M normally resting on the valve-seat i Of the said containerf.
A bafiie-plate comprising a flat annular ring N, preferably Of glass, is placed on the top Of the valve-container f and there held by the lower1 projections 0 of a tube Or sleeve O, which is fitted within the neck Of the bottle and therein held by rolling or expanding same to 'fill the grooves b within the neck Of the bottle, making it impossible thereafter to remove same. The tube or sleeve O is provided near its lower end with a diaphragm p, in center Of which is a beveled opening l?, in which the conical portion Of the valve operates to a limited extent, and this central Opening is surrounded by a series Of Openings (l, through which the liquid fiows during the pouring process.
From the above description it will be seen that my improved bottle is especially intended for fine liquors, medicines, proprietary compounds, and in all cases where it is desired tO insure the genuineness of the article contained within the bottle.
Having described my invention, what T claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
l. In a nOn-refillable bottle, the combination of a bottle having an annular shoulder in the lower part of its neck, a valve retainer and washer On said shoulder, means for holding the valve-retainer in position, a spherical valve with downwardly-projecting stem and an OppOsitely-projecting conical portion, and means for limiting the opening Of the valve, as set forth. 2. In a non-reiillable bottle, the combination of a bottle, and a neck lining Or sleeve having a perforated diaphragm, a valve-retainer and an annular ring Or baffle-plate, located between the sleeve and. valve-retainer, the valve-retainer provided with a valve-stem receptacle and openings surrounding same, a valve having a stem to Operate in the aforesaid receptacle and a conical portion projecting in an Opposite direction to said stem, as set forth.
In testimony whereof .I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
LOUIS ERNEST LEOPOLD THEMKE.
Witnesses:
