provement in Mangles, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to mangles of the class wherein the linen is held in contact with a cylindrical drier by means of an endless apron; and the objects of my improvement are to provide means to simultaneously move and maintain the pressure-rolls a short distance from the drier to prevent them from crushing the buttons on the garments or to cause the rolls to simultaneously exert more or less yielding pressure toward the drier as desire Y x These objects are attained in the following described manner, as illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which.

In the drawings the hollow cylindrical drier 7 is formed with end journals 8, whereby it is mounted to rotate in bearings 9, formed in supporting-frames 11. Gear 12, keyed on one of journals 8, engages with driven pinion 13. Endless apron 14 travels in the direction of the arrows in contact with the face of the drier under the usual padded pressure- rolls 15,16, 17, and 18, over guiderolls 21, 22, and 23, and tightening-roll 24. Pressure-rolls 15 and 16 are each provided with a pinion 25, engaging with gear 12. The pressure-rolls are each movably hinged on the supporting-frames by means of short arms 26 and are simultaneously adjustable toward or from the face of the drier by means of connecting-rods 27, engaging with flanges 28 and tan ent thereto. Said rods are adjustable in length by means of turnbuckles 29, and said flanges are rotatively adjustable on collars 30, which are secured on the re spective supporting-frames concentric with journals 8. Horizontal arms 31 project in a forward direction from the flanges, and weights 32, adjustable thereon, cause the pressure-rolls to simultaneously exert a yieldconnecting the ing pressure on the apron toward the face of the drier. The pressure-rolls are movable only simultaneously, and any thick material carried by the apron under one of said rolls receives the concentrated pressure of all of them. Rod 33, provided with cams 34 under the respective arms 31, is journaled at its ends in the respective supporting-frames. It is actuated by means of hand-lever 35 thereon to cause the cams to move and maintain the arms in an elevated position with the pressure-rolls a short distance from the drier. tons attached may be passed between the apron and the drier without danger of the buttons being crushed by the pressure-rolls. Having fully described my improvement, what I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is
1. The combination of a hollow cylindrical drier, rotatively mounted on supportingframes, a series of rotative pressure-rolls movablysupported on said frames and adj acent to the face of the drier, members attached to the frames concentric with the axis of the drier adjustable means unyieldingly ressure-rolls thereto, and weights arranged to rotatively move said members and to yieldingly maintain the pressure-rolls collectively in 11110831116 relative position toward the drier.
2. 4. The combination of supporting-frames, a hollow cylindrical drier journaled thereon, a series of pressure-rolls movably secured on the frame'and adjacent the face of the drier,

5. In a mangle, the combination of supportin 'frames, a hollow cylindrical drier ed thereon, a plural number of pressure-rolls journaled in swinging bearings secured to the frames, members rotatively adjustable on the respective frames, adjustable means unyieldingly connecting the rolls thereto, adjustable weights adapted to actuate said members to simultaneously move sure toward the drier, and means adapted to counteract the Weights and move the rolls simultaneously in the opposite direction.

In a mangle, the combination of end supporting-frames, a hollow cylindrical drier journaled to rotate therein, arms hinged on the frames and provided with bearings, pres,- sure-rolls journaled in the bearings, flanges movably supported on the supportingframes concentric with the drier, and each an arm, weights movable on provided with the arms, and adjustable connecting-rods at taehed to the flanges and the respective bearings, whereby the pressure-rolls are movable only simultaneously.
