To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, J ANG LANDSING, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Boonton, Morris county, Stateof New Jersey, have invented certain new. and useful Improvements in Storage- Battery- Plates, of which the following is a specification, accompanied by drawings.
This invention relates to improvements in storage-battery plates, more particularly to Plant plates, in which the active material is formed out of and .upon lead portions of the electrodes by chemical or electrochemical action.
The object of the present invention is to improve upon the construction of'such Plant plates and prevent the plate from buckling as the lead strips thicken and elongatein the process of formation.
Further objects of the invention will hereinafter appear; and to these ends the invention consists of a storage-battery plate for carrying out the above objects embodying the features of construction, combinations of elements, and arrangement of parts having the general mode of operation substantially as hereinafter fully described and claimed in this specification and shown in the accomwhich- Figure 1 is a side view of a portion of a plate embodying the invention. -Fig. 2 is a side view of a portion of a plate embodying a modification. Figs. 3 and 4 are side views of portions of modified plates, and Figs. 5 and 6 are side views, of portions of modified plates.
Referring to the drawings, A and B represent the sides or framework of the plate, which may be of lead or an alloy, as lead and antimony.

Within the space formed by the frame A B and cross-ribs 0 Dis a sh mentary grill of lead constructed in accordance with this invention in suchmanner as to prevent buckling. The complete plate may be made up of as many elementary panels or grills fo rming unit elements as de= sired, but one grill being shown by way of illustration. Y
As shown, the grill comprises the elementary units or strips E, adapted ,to become own a panel or eleactive, and these strips or units are connected by flexible cross members or supports F. As shown, short ends ments project beyond the upper and lower 1 cross-supports F, and spaces H are provided between said ends and the frame and ribs to permit elongation of the grill longitudinally or in the direction of the extent of the unit strips E. Spaces I are formed at each side of the grill substantially .opposite the ends of the cross members or supports F to permit sidewise elongation of said members.
