To all whom, it may concern:

Be it known that we, ALFRED BOEOK, a subject of the German Emperor, and JOHN MULLER, a subject of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, and both residents of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Amusement Device, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

- This invention relates to amusement devices.

The object of the invention is to produce a tower having attachments enabling persons to climb to the top thereof and having means of rapid descent from the tower.

A further object of the invention is to provide the tower with means of amusement to entertain visitors.

The invention consists in the construction and combination of parts to be more fully described hereinafter, and particularly set forth in the claims.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, which illustrate as an example the preferred embodiment of our invention, in which drawings like characters of reference indicate like parts in the severalviews, and in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of the device, certain parts being broken away and shown in section. Fig. 2 is a cross-section on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a cross-section on the line 3 8 of Fig. 1, and Fig. 4 is a cross-section on the line 4 4 of Fig. 1.

Referring more particularly to the parts, and especially to Fig. 1, 1 represents the base of the tower, which is preferably of substantially conical form, as shown. The approach to this base is formed of ornamental scenery 2, including parapets or small towers 3, arranged at the sides of the tower. Above the base 1 of the tower a main gallery 4 is arranged. This gallery, like the base, is substantially circular in cross-section and projects at its sides beyond the wall of the base,

as shown. Above this gallery 4 there is formed a second gallery 5, and above this gallery there is a cupola or third gallery 6.

The tower is provided with a central elevator-shaft 7, in which cages 8 are operated, so as to bring persons from the ground-level 9 to the floor of the gallery 4. In the upper portion of the tower an opening or shaft 10 is provided, in which there is sustained a cable or rope 11, enabling persons to slide down from the cupola 6 to the floor of the main gallery 4. In order to enable persons to ascend the sides of the tower, we provide a plurality of ladders 12, preferably of the general form known as Jacobs ladder. These ladders enable a person to climb up the steep sides of the base 1. As the gallery 4 projects beyond the sides of the base, the under side or wall 13 thereof is inclined, as shown. In order to enable persons to pass up at this point, we provide a conical apron 14, which completely surrounds the under side of the gallery 4 and is separated. therefrom by a space 15, through which the persons may crawl. In order to enable the body to be supported on such .an inclined surface, we provide transverse cleats or rounds 16, as shown. In this way a person may pass upwardly to the level of the floor of the gallery 4, at which point there is provided a laterally-projecting porch or veranda 17, surrounded by a suitable guardrail 18. Above this point ladders 19 are provided, which lead up the steep side wall of the gallery 4 and along the inwardly-pitched roof, as shown.

Near the under side of thduppefgallery 5 a depending apron 20 is provided, which is similar to the apron 14 described above. Leaving the ladder 19 the persons scaling the tower pass along the inner side of the apron 20 and eventually reach the level of the gallery 5. This gallery 5 is provided with a circular wall 21, of glass, and in the center of the gallery there is formed a turret 22 of conical form, the face whereof is formed into rudimentary steps 23, facilitating the further ascent of the tower. Projecting upwardly from the turret 22 there is a central post 24, the upper extremity whereof is expanded to form the cupola 6. The lower side of this cupola 6 is providedwith an apron 25, similar to the apron 14, up which the person may crawl by means of cleats, similar to the cleats 16 aforesaid. The cupola 6 is provided with several small cannon 26, which may be discharged by the person arriving at the top. From the gallery 5 a spiral chute 27 winds downwardly around the body of the tower, assing through the main gallery 4 to a lan ing or resting-place 28, disposed in the upper portion of the base and beneath the floor of the main gallery. From this point the lower section 29 of the chute winds downwardly around the base and to the scenery 2 on the ground-line 9 at a point 80.

The gallery 4 is intended to be used as a dining-hall and will be provided with furni ture for this purpose. From the gallery 4 to the gallery 5 stairways 32 and 33 are arranged, which may be used by ladies or by spectators. Persons who have ascended the tower will descend either by sliding down the cable 10 to the level of the gallery 4, whence they may take the elevator, or they will descend by the chute 27, which winds around and around the tower. At the landing 28 persons sliding down the chute may rest before completing the descent. I

Having thus described the invention, we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. An amusement device consisting of a tower presenting a gallery projecting laterally from the sides thereof, scaling-ladders in the sides of said tower leading up to a point near said gallery, and an apron disposed around said gallery having means enabling a person to ascend to the level of said gallery.

2. An amusement device consisting of a tower presenting scaling-ladders at the base thereof, and having a plurality of galleries rojecting laterally and presenting inclined ower faces, aprons surrounding said galleries separated from said inclined faces by a space through which a body may pass, cleats on said aprons, and scaling-ladders connected with said gallery.

3. An amusement device consisting of a tower presenting a base with scaling-ladders on the face thereof, a plurality of galleries projecting laterally from said tower and presenting inclined lower faces, aprons disposed near said lower faces, and having cleats facilitating the ascent of a person climbing said tower, said upper gallery having a turret formed therein presenting rudimentary steps,

tower, presenting scaling-ladders on the outer wall thereof, a main gallery projecting laterally from the body of said tower and an inclined apron at said main gallery, presenting cleats at the upper side thereof, facilitating its descent, a scaling-ladder passing upwardly over the sidewall of said main gallery, a second gallery disposed above said main gallery and projecting laterally from the body of said tower, an inclined apron surrounding said second gallery and presenting cleats facilitating its ascent, a turret formed in said second allery, presenting rudimentary steps, a cupo a above said turret having a surrounding inclined apron presenting cleats facilitating its ascent, said tower having .a shaft eX- tending from the cupola to said main gallery, and a cable hanging therein, stairways connecting said main gallery and said second gallery, and a chute winding around said tower and extending downward from an elevation thereupon.
