Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 2, 1905.
I Application filed February16,1 905. Serial No. 245,963.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it kn`own that I, WILHELM FRIEDRICH LUDWIG BETH, manufacturer, a subject of -the German Emperor", residing at Lbeck,
,and down may not take lace at each revolution of this cam-shaft, ut at eater inter vals, these cams are displacea ly mounted on the shaft and may be moved to and fro thereon by means of a suitable operating mechanism, so that each lever is only encountered at long intervals by the respective lift-cam. This longitudinal displacement of the cams on the shaft involves drawbacks, as it produces considerable sliding friction, owing to the encrusting-or fouling' of the parts displaced, and thus `wastes a considerable amount of power. y
Now thisy invention'has for its object an arra ment which .avoids the said drawbaclg the means hereinafter described.
In t e accompanying drawings various forms of construction are shown in Figures l to 9.
vThe form of construction shown in Figs. 1
' to 3 is" a vertical sectionof the arran ement in various positions. A two-armed ever t, which carries the' tubular trunk orfilter a, is mounted'on a rocking lever lc in such a Way that 'it is only encountered by the rotating cam d at stated or determined times-that is to say, when thislever k is brought into the positlon shown'in Fig. 2 in any suitable manf ner by means ofthe opera-tin parts-.-for instance, by the rotating camisk Z byv means of a push-rod m.A When thecam d releases the'lever b, it passes intothe positionjsho'wn in Fig. 3,'and'on the further rotation of the the position shown in Fig. l. f l
FIgs. 4, 5, and 6 show another form of con- ,4 struction. Anoscillatin contactnismounted on a lever b, which oes'not' itselfcomev cam-disk l the lever 7c is again 4brought intof into contact with the cam d. In the osition shown in Fig. 4 a rotating cut-out 'sk o f holds the oscillating contact n erect'or upright; but in the posltion shown in Fi 5 this disk has released ity andit has droppe down, so that it is encountered b the cam d, and so tips up the lever b. In i 6 the action of the cam d has ceased, the Iever b has tilted back into its initial position, and on the f u1'' lther rotation of the disk o the condition shown in Fig. 4 is restablished..
The form of construction shown in Figs. 7 i
to-9 is similar. The lever b is pivotally displaceable in an oval slot p. cut-out disk o holds this lever!) in the raise position, as shownin Fig. 7, `in which it is not encountered by the .'cam d. In'Fig. 8 the .disk o has allowed the pivot/or axis of rotation to drop, whereby the `free end of the le- A ver. l) comes into the path of the cam d, and conse uently the lever is tilted u After the re ease by the cam d the lever assumes the position shown in Fig. 9 until the disk o again raises Fig. 7.
it into the position shown in I declare that what I claim isble-arm lever connected to the filters by the 'opposite terminals thereof, a rocking arm element having a cam-slot, a link member connected to tiie pivotal lever andvengaging the cam-slot for shifting the rocking arm horizontally intoV and out of the pathl of the tripping member sothat the latter may act upon the free end of the rocking arm to cause periodical stretching and sudden vreleasing the filters.
