Description

PATENTED SEPT. l1, 1906'.
C. H. BRADBURY. ICE CREAM SGRAPER.
APPLIUATION'HLED JAN. 4, 1906A CHARLES H. BRADBURY, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
ICE-CREAM SCRAPER.
Specification of Letters .Patent Application led January 4,1906. Serial No. 294,527.
Patented Sept. 11, 1906.
To @ZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES H. BRADBURY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Boston, county of Suffolk, State of Massachusetts, have invented an Improvement in Ice- Cream Scrapers, of which the following description, in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a specification, like numerals onthe drawings representing like parts.
This invention has for its object to provide a novel ice-cream scraper which is simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture, and which can be readily applied to ice-cream cans of any size.
The device com erably curved shg slde the can, ears rises a body portion preftly and adapted to set inprojecting from said body portion and shaped to embrace the top edge of the can, means to clamp the ears to the can, and a scraping-bar extending partially across the open top of the can and supported from the body portion bymeans of a laterallyprojecting arm.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view showing a can having m ice-cream scraper applied thereto, a art o the can being broken out to better sllow the construction. Fig. 2 is a section through one of the ears of the ice-cream scraper.
3 designates the can to which the ice-creaml scraper is to be applied.
T 1e scraper is constructed with the body portion 4, which is preferably curved slightly and which has projecting therefrom one or more ears .5 to embrace the top edge of the can 3 and which also has projecting laterally therefrom an arm 6, carrying the scrapingbar 7. The ears 5 are shown as projecting upwardly from the top edge of the body portion 4, as at 8, and then projectinglaterally, as at 9, and downwardly, as at 10, thus making, with the body, a U-shaped clip which is adapted to set over the top edge of the can. The arm 6 is shown as projectlng u wardly from the body portion as at 1 1, and tlien proj ecting laterally toward the center of the can,- and at its end is supported the'scraping-bar 7, which may have struction, said scraping-bar preferably proj ecting equal distances either side of the arm 6. The lateral portion of the arm 6 is at subany suitable or usual con-.
stantially the same level asthe top of the ears 5, and therefore when the device is in place,
as shown in Fig. 1, the scraping-bar 7 is substantially in the plane of the top edge of the can.
The device may be held in place b any suitable clamping means. As herein s own, said clamping means is in the form of clamping-screws 13, which are screw-threaded either through the ears 5 or through the body portion 4. If the clamping-screws can be readily manipulated from the outside of the can, I propose to screw them through the ears 5, as shown in Fig. 1, but if for any reason there is no space outside of the can for this purpose they may be screw-threaded through the apertures 14 in the body portion 4, and when in this position they clamp the can between themselves and the ears 5.
The space between the ears 5 and the body portion 4 is purposely made considerably wider than the thickness of the can, so that my Adevice may be readily applied to cans of different sizes.
Having described my invention, what I claim Patent, is-
1. An ice-cream scraper, comprising a body portion to set within the can-top, ears projecting from the body portion to embrace the edge of the can, an arm extending laterally from the concaved side of the body portion,
and a scraping-bar carried by the free vend of said arm.
.2. An ice-cream scraper, comprising a curved body portion to set within the vcantop, ears projecting upwardly from the body portion, then laterally and downwardly to embrace the edge of the can, an arm extending laterally from the concaved side of the body portion, and a scraping-bar at the free end of the arm, said bar being situated in substantially the same plane as the laterally-extending portions ofthe ears.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
CHARLES H. BRADBURY.
