IMPROVEMENT 1N ENGINE-Gommone The' Schedule referred to in these Letten Patent and making part f the B31116- To all whom fit concern:
Beit known that I, WILLIAM S. HnNsoN, of New York city, in the county of New York, and in the State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Governors for Steam-Engines; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
Inthe annexed drawings, making part of this speciiication', A' represents a vertical spindle, which is supported by an upright sleeve or frame, B B, and which is driven by pulleys or gear-wheels in the usual manner.
The upper end of this spindle has a ball, K, formed upon it, which-may be made in any ornamental manner.
F represents a collar, which surrounds the'spindle A.
C D represent arms, which are forked at one end, and which are provided at their other ends with the balls D D. The forked ends of these arms embrace the ball K of spndleA on opposite sides, and are connected to them by means of pivots or pins, whichpass through or into the ball at an angle of about fortyve degrees, and a little to one side of the plane in which the balls D D stand, said plane being 'made vertically through the balls and spindle A. When the collar F rises, the arms O O extend inl the usual manner. The collar and the bars I act as guides and supports-for the arms O and'their balls.
