.To all whom it may con-cern,.-
Beit known that l, JAMES FARLGW, f. citizen of the United States, gesdng at Ander-- Semin the county if ltladison end State of In diane., have invented n new and useful Cer- Coupling, of 'which the following is e. speelfication.
This invention relates tocar-couplings, and has for its object to improve the construction and 'increase the efficiency end utility '0f fle- Yices of this character.
TWith these and other ebieets which will appear the nettare tien is bett er understeecl, the i certain novel features Gf hereinafter fully described u ln the ueconipsimjring dr.. The improverldevice comprises r Huppertv ing-frameor 10, sutaljily een* eet-ed, as yby bolts ll, to the under surllaee of slit-x, silltimbers 12 of the cer, the rfune having de pending sides provided with iced greovee or channels i3 14, extending llxnglti dinelly thereof end with eloseel outer sides. lower face of the 'frame is provided "i l plate 15, seein-ed thereto Uy the seme be by which the frame 10 is secured to the body.
The draw-heed und raw-leer portion el' the device is *formed in two parte, the two parte of the draw-bead. renvesented, respectively, at 16 l? and ,the Wo parte of the draw-bur represented at The ber members are provided. wlth in lugs 20, 2l, and 22 W.' lr tee abut vr tie lugs 2Q 2 inelinef er emerged devetelefl lool-:ing uedereilt 23, me 'two parte united By this arrangement it 1 'the lsmgitadnel are berne by buler-sprine been; t: end the n" and the inner tl. l. :1 3.0. lesl tin-@ugh the fir enit e v ci. diere-raffle 2 31 at me end eeupled et l.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is- 1. A ear-coupler with a drawhead and a shank constructed in two parts divided iongitudinally between the jaws of the drawhead and with one of the jaws upon each of said arts and with studs extending laterally om each of said divided parts7 means for-detachably uniting said parts, draw-rods movably coupled to said studs, and means 'for connecting said rods to the body of the car.
2. In a car-coupler, a supporting-frame having a longitudinal guide-channel, a drawhead and its shank divided longitudinally `into two parts with one of the in each part and with laterally-extending studs slidably disposed in said channels, a buffer-spring between said shank and fra-nie, draw-rods movably coupled to sadlateral studs and extending rearwardly o said frame, and reliefsprings engaging said rods and bearing against'saidframe.
3. In a coupler, a supporting-frame having spaced side members provided with longitudinal guideehannels opening inwardly and with Closed outer sides, a draw-head and drawbar movable within said frameand provided with lateral studs bearing in said channels, draw-rods disposed between said frame members and draw-bar and with eyes engaging said studs, and relief-springs engaging said rods and bearing against saidrame.
In testimony that I olaimthe'fo'regoing as the presence of twowtnesses.
