BEER GLASS TRAY.
APPLICATION FILED NOV. 9, 1905.
QZ 0g:
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
BEER-GLASS TFIAY Specification of Letters Patent.
Eatented May 22, 1906.
Application led November 9,1905. Serial No. 286,458.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRIEDRICH Voss, a citizen of the German Empire, and a resident of Burg, in Dithmarschen, Province of Sleswick- Holstein, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Beer-Glass Trays, of which the following is a specificaf tion.
This invention relates to a beer-glass tray which absorbs the drippings and conveys the same to a receiving-trough, so that cleanliness is insured.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a plan, partly broken away, of my improved beer-glass tray. Fig. 2 is a cross-section on lineA B, Fig. 1 and Fig. 3, a side elevation.
The letter a indicates a base-plate composed of a raised central section a2, a downwardly-extending upright flange a, and an upwardly curved rim b. Thus there is formed between the parts a and b an annular trough which surrounds the central raised section a2 of the plate. The top of raised section a2 is provided with radial grooves f, communicating with alined grooves f of flange a. The parts a2 a are covered by an absorbent cloth c, held to the plate a by means of a ring d, surrounding flange a. In order to securely connect the parts, the ring d is provided with an inwardly-extending bead d opposite a corresponding recess of flange a. Perforations o in ring d permit the escape of the liquid, which trickles through the cloth and passes along the grooves f f through the openings o into the trough. If the cloth is to be renewed, it may be readily detached by first removing the ring.
What I claim is- 1. In a beer-glass tray, a plate having a raised grooved section, an upright flange eX- tending from the edge of said raised section to the bottom of the' plate, and a rim sur rounding said plate, combined with a cloth covering the raised section and the upright flange, and means for securing the cloth to said flange, substantially as specified.
' 2. In a beer-glass tray, a plate having a raised grooved section, a grooved upright flange extending from the edge of said raised section to the bottom of the plate, and a rim surrounding said plate, combined with a cloth covering the raised section and the grooved flange, and a ring that engages the cloth and surrounds the grooved flange, substantially as specified.
3. In a beer-glass tray, a plate having a raised grooved section, a grooved upright flange extending from the edge of said raised section to the bottom of the plate, and a rim surrounding said plate, combined with a cloth covering the raised section and the grooved flange, and a perforated ring that engages the cloth and surrounds the grooved flange, substantially as specified.
Signed by me at Hamburg, Ger1nany,this 24th day of Uctober, 1905.
FRIEDRICH VOSS.
