INVENTOR ATTORNEY wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww cc UNITED srarns PATENT OFFICE.
WRlNGER-HOLDER AND WASHTUB-PROTECTOR.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented April 24, 1906.
Application filed May 2. 1905. Serial No. 258,524.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, VALENTIN KEMPF, a citizen of the United States, residing at E0- boken, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented new and useful Improvements in i/Vringer-Holders and l/Vashtub-Protectors, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to means for enabling a wringer to obtain ahold when applied to a washtub, so as to avoid shifting or slipping and also avoid defacing or denting of the washtub or article to which the wringer is applied.
This invention is set forth in the following specification and claims and illustrated in the annexed drawings, in which Figure 1 is a face View of the holder or protector applied to use. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a face View of the holder or protector on a larger scale than in Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is a section along a 0;, Fig. 3. Fig. 5 is a section along 'y y, Fig. 3.
The washtub a has a wringer or wringerfoot I), clamped thereto by a screw 0. All these parts are known. To protect the tub a from being dented or defaced by the screw 0, the protector is interposed, as shown at 6. This protector consists of the sheet-metal sections 6 and e, suitably beaded together. A filling, such as paper and pasteboard, is shown at f. A facing g, of antislip materiaLsuch as corrugated rubber, is exposed through a hole in the rear wall or section 6 of the protector.
When the protector is placed with the soft face g to the tub and the screw 0 is clamped against face e, the wringer is secured against slipping or shifting, and the tub is protected against contact or denting by the screw 0. A loop k can serve as a handle or to suspend the protector when not in use. The loop can be held in place or a bearing for this swinging loop or handle formed by bending over a part of the flange portion of the article. In the drawings opposite parts of the rim portion are doubled or bent and a symmetrical appearance is obtained.
The face or shell section e is shown recessed or dished at its center to form a depression or seat, receiving the free end of the screw 0 when coming into action.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A protector or the like for washtubs comprising faces or sections having a soft filling with an antislip facing partially projected and exposed through one of the sections to engage a side of the tub, the opposite portions of the section being provided with means for engagement with a fastening device.
2. A protector comprising faces with an antislip surface exposed through one of the faces, the opposite face or section being recessed or provided with a seat for receiving a wringer-attaching screw.
3. A protector for washtubs or the like comprising a shell composed of sections flanged together, a filling and an antislip layer in the shell, one of the sections being perforated to expose the layer.
4. A protector for washtubs and the like comprising a shell composed of sections flanged together, a filling and an antislip layer in the shell, one of the sections being perforated to expose the layer and the latter being corrugated to secure a hold or friction.
5. A protector for washtubs and the like comprising a shell composed of sections flanged together a filling and an antislip layer in the shell, one of the sections being perforated to expose the layer and said flanged parts being turned over to form a bearing for a loop or bail.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing Witnesses.
VALENTIN KEMPF.

GEORGE I'IULSBERG, EDWARD WIEsNER.
