I Alfarneyji he 10 through which P H I c V UEL-KRLES O. RUSSELL.
To (1]? [x i/om i may concern.-
Be it known that i, CHARLES C. RUSSELL, a citizen of: the United States, Cleveland, in the county of Cuys'hoga, State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shower-Baths, of which the following is a specification.
This invention comprises showcr-bath having a spray-pipe which can be adjusted or set any desired height, so as to be service able for persons oi any height.
it also comprises 2 mixer permitting an improved regulation of the torn )Qlflil'tll of the water and also permitting salt to be ap lied to the water delivered.
The device is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figure l is a front elevation of the same with the spray-pipe raised to vertical position out of the way. Fig. 2 is a detail, partly in section, of the connection and turningjoint which permit the spray-pipe to be or lowered. *ig. 3 is a detail of one of the plugs in a joint. Fig. 4 is a side elevation of the apparatus, showing in dotted lines various positions of the spray-pipe. Fig. 5 is a detail in section ol" the mixer. Fig. 6 is a detail of port of a latch used to hold the parts as set.
Referring specifically to the drawings, 6 and 7 indicate the supply-pipes for hot and cold water. These open into the bottom of a. cylindrical mixing vessel 8, which is provided at the top with a screw-cover ,9, and in the side wall thereof, near the top, is an outletthe mixed hot and cod 'water is supplied to 'tl'ie'spray-pipe. \Vithin the mixer bet-ween the inlet and out let pipes is a perforated partition 11, from which projects upwardly a vertical pin 12, on which a bag of salt, as indicated at 13, may he stuck to give a salt-shower. The partition obstructs the passage of the water and causes an eiiicient mixture oi tho hot and cold water. The removable cover t) allows the salt-bag to be placed orreinoved, as de sired.
The spray-pipe consists of a cross-pipe is, at the ends of which are forwardly rojecting parallel branches 15, which are spaced apart a proper distance to allow a person to enter therebetween. his pipe and its branches have inwardly directed et-holes 16, adapted to discharge a spray on such pe son, and it is to be noticeo that by the means hereinafter descri ed spray-pipe is or ipecification of Letters Application filed February 12, 190 Serial 1%.

may be held in horizontal position at all elevations, or it may he swung up or down vertically out of the wey when not in use. The spray is connected by a T-fitting 17 with e joint-casing 18 at one end of a connectingpipe 19, the other end of which has similar jointcesing 20. Each end of saidconnecting-pipe is provided with a tubular plug 21,
having a number of perforations 22, which open into the joint-ca ing end provide a continuous low in all positions of the joint. The plugs and casings form turning joints, on their axes are parallel, so that the connecting-pipe 19 and the spray-pipe carried thereby may be swung up or down to any desired height, limited only by the length of the connecting-pipe. The plugs 21 are extended through the casing, and their outer ends are connected by a brace-bar 23, held in place by nuts 24, which also hold the plugs in the casing.
To hold the parts as set,'iatches are ro vided at the joints, which comprise a rate letwasher 25, which is fitted over the plug and detents 26, arranged to drop in the notches of the ratchet and hold the parts in any engular osition desired.
o adjust the shower to the desired hei ht, the latches 26 are first thrown out,and t on by taking hold of the pipe 19 it can be swung up or down to the desired position, an latches are then engaged again to hold the parts as set.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by-Letters Patent, is-
1. A mixer for shower -bath apparatus, comprising an outer casing having a removable cover-st the top and hot and cold water inlets at the bottom, anoutlet in the side of the casing near the top thereof, a perforated artition ex'tepdingecross within the casing,
etween the inlets and outlet, and a pin projecting upwardly from the partition, in casing.
