Be it known that I, JAMES E. WARLICK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lagrange, in the county of Troup and State of Georgia, have invented new and useful Improvements in aCombined Faucet. and Measure, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in combined faucets and measures.
It lhas primarily for its object the drawing olf and simultaneously measuring the Huid or liquid from a barrel or Cask and the delivering of the measured Huid or liquid into the receptacle for receiving it.
The nature of the invention consists of certain structural features substantially as hereinafter fully disclosed and particularly noted.
In the hereto-annexed drawings, Figure 1 is a side view, and Fig. 2 is a sectional view,
of the preferred embodiment of my inven-` tion. Fig. 3 is a view in side elevation showing the device in its discharging position.
In carrying out my invention 1 provide a suitable tubular elbow l, preferably composed of practically two screwed-together pipe-sections 1a 1b, with one end of the latter pipe-section screwed into the liquid-containing barrel or caslr and the other pipe-section connecting with and terminating in a hollow axial member 1', produced with a port ll in its upper surface and somewhat tapering for a purpose later apparent.
A preferably circular measuring receptacle or drum 2, which may have a capacity of one pint or one quart, has passing therethrough a central hub or sleeve 2 of corresponding taper as and receiving the axial member l, and upon which latter said drum is adapted to be turned, and which hub or sleeve has a port 2" for registration with the port 11 of said axial member. Said axial member has its smaller tapered end projecting' beyond said receptacle or drum and provided with a shoulder l0 and a screw-threaded surface beyond the latter, and upon said shoulder is inserted a washer 1f, and upon said screw-threaded surface is screwed a nut lg up against said washer for suitably holding the drum or receptacle rotatably in position upon said axial member. By suitably screwing up the tapered axial member, as will be readily understood, the parts may be caused to tit airtight. Said axial member has also a lateral stud or projection l", engaging an extension 2C of the hub or sleeve 2a, serving as a stop for predetermmlng the extent of the turning of the measuring receptacle or drum in effecting registration between the ports ld and 2b, above noted.
In the perimeter of the receptacle or drum 2 is a spout 2d, arranged diametrically in alinement with the port 2b of the latter and having a lateral nozzle 2e, to which is applied one end of a section of hose 3, and as a continuation of the last noted is employed a hose-sec tion 3, interposed between which and forming a continuation thereof is a glass or transparent tube 3" for visually ascertaining when the drum or receptacle has reached the filled state, as will be readily understood. Likewise arranged in diametric alinement with the port 2b and also in the perimeter of the drum or receptacle 2 is an air-valve 4, with its disk or washer member held automatically upon its seat within said drum by a spring et, encompassing its headed stem, and by pressing upon the latter with the iinger or thumb said valve may be opened, as in emptying the drum of its contained liquid.
In operation it will be noted that the drum being adjusted to bring the ports l 2 into registration and the finger placed over the end ot' the spout 2 the liquid from the barrel or cask entering the elbow or pipe connection 1 will flow through said ports into said drum or receptacle and iill the same, that Fact being indicated by the liquid rising into the nozzle 2e and entering the hose-sections and the glass tube 3b. The drum is now turned to the left, immediately of course cutting off the flow of the liquid or fluid and the drum permitted to be emptied of its contents through the spout 2d, said drum being turned until the spout has been presented directly downward and said contents or liquid entering a vessel or receptacle suitably placed for that purpose.
I claiml. A device of the character described, comprising a rotatable drum having a dischargetube in its perimeter and a central ported hub or sleeve through its center, and a supply tube or pipe having a ported member forming an axis for said drum and means vfor limiting or predetermining the movement of said drum.

A device ofthe character described, comprising a rotatable drum having a dischargetube in its perimeter, provided with a nozzle suitably equipped for indicating the iilling of said drum, and a supply tube or pipe having a ported member forming an axis for said drum, and means for prcdetermining the movement of said drum.
