FEED TRAIN FOR ROLLING MILLS.

FEED-TRAIN FOR ROLLING-MILLS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 19, 1905.
Application filed October 31, 1904. Serial No, 230,669.
To ail whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, EMIL MEYER, a citizen of the German Empire, and a resident of Duisburg, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Feed-Trains for Rolling-Mills, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a feed-train for rolling-mills, which is so constructed that a yielding connection is formed between some of the rollers and the driving mechanism. In this way the rollers are not apt to lose their proper position owing to the dropping of the ingots, the yielding of the foundations, or from other causes.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a plan of a feed-train for rolling-mills embodying my invention; and Fig. 2, a vertical longitudinal section on line AB, Fig. 1.
The letters 0 1 represent two spaced or flanking rollers of a rolling-mill, between which are arranged intermediate rollers r. The shafts a a a of rollers 9 0" r respectively, are journaled in a frame or bearing 6, as shown.
Upon shaft a of roller 9 are mounted gear wheels 0', that mesh into wheels d of the driving-shaft 0Z. Upon shaft a of roller 1' are mounted disks 6, having wrist-pins 6 that are connected to corresponding wrist-pins t of gear-wheels c by rods in.
The shafts a of the intermediate rollers r carry disks 1?, provided with radial slots 3. These slots are engaged by pins 2 of connecting-rods is, so that rotatory movement is imparted to rollers r from rods 70;
It will be seen that by the construction described a yielding connection between the rods is and the shafts a of the intermediate rollers r is effected. In this way any objectionable strain is avoided on the driving mechanism owing to the settling of the frame or a wear upon one end of the intermediate-roller shafts,
a rod on each side of the rollers for connecting the flanking disks, pins on one of said rods that engage the slotted disks, and means for rotating one of the flanking disks, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto signed my namein the presence of two witnesses.
EMIL MEYER.
Witnesses WILLIAM ESSENWEIN, PETER LIEBER.
