ATTORNEY Patented July 11, 1905.
PATENT OEErcE.
SAMUEL L. HENRY, OF SEBRING, OHIO.
CREDIT-CABINET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 794,405, dated July 11, 1905.
Application led October 17, 1904. Serial No. 228,769.
10 (11M zij/'1,0m it may concern.-
Beit known that I, SAMUEL L. HENRY, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Sebring, in the county of Mahoning and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Credit-Cabinets; and I do hereby declaro that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part ot' this speciiication, and to the ligures of reference marked thereon, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the credit-cabinet open. Fig. 2 is a partial horizontal section. Fig. 3 is a detached view of one ot' the name-strips. Fig. 4 is a detached view of one ot' the credit-slip-holding plates. Fig. 5 is a View showing portions of two of the horizontal plates and illustrating the position of one of the plate-holding staples. Fig. 6 is a detached view showing a portion of one of the name-strip-holding plates. Fig. 7 is a detached view of the drawers designed to be located in the lower portion of the case.
Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the igu res of the drawings.
In the accompanying drawings, 1 represents the cabinet-case, which may be formed of any desired size, reference being had to the capacity of the cabinet. Within the casing 1 are located any desired number of vertical partitions 2, to which partitions and to the side members of the casing are attached the shelves or horizontal partitions 3,' which horizontal partitions are spaced a short distance apart, so as to provide receptacles for the various credit-slip plates 4 designed to be used. The credit-slip plates 4 are each provided upon their front ends with the right-angled iianges 5, which right-angled flanges are preferably formed ot' a length less than the width of the plates, by which arrangement the footings of the various slips designed to be attached or located upon the plates 4 are exposed to view. For the purpose of withdrawing the plates 4, together with the slips contained thereon, from their receptacles the/ right-angled flanges 5 are provided with the pulls 6, which pulls are preferably formed by bending portions of the right-angled iianges, as illustrated in Fig. 4.
It will be understood that in some instances it is desirable to not entirely detach the plates 4 from their receptacles, and in order that this may be d one the rear ends of the plates are provided with the hooks 7, which hooks are for the purpose ot' engaging the staples 8, which staples are secured to the horizontal partitions 3 and are so located that when the plates 4 are tilted at an angle, as shown in Fig. 2, the hooks 7 will engage the staples 8 and hold said plates in the position illustrated. When it is desired to entirely withdraw the plates 4 from their receptacles or from the casing 1, the plates 4 are withdrawn in a horizontal plane, or substantially so, and when so withdrawn the hooks 7 will clear the staples 8, thereby allowing` the plates 4 to be entirely detached from their receptacles. The rightangled Hanges 5 of the various plates 4 are numbered, and in use they should be consecutively numbered for the purpose hereinafter described.
To the front or forward portion of the casing 1,and near the bottom thereoi`,is hinged the door 9, which door is formed of such asize that when brought into a vertical position it will close the casing 1. To the door 9 are attached the name-strip-holding bars lO, which namestrip-holding bars are provided with the beads 11, which beads are spaced from each other a distance equal to the-width of the name-strips 12, or substantially so, by which arrangement spaces are provided between'the face of the door 9 and the under faces of the bars lO, thereby providing a means for attaching and detaching the name-strips 12. The bars 10 are provided with numbers, which numbers are to correspond with the numbers upon the fianges 5-as, for instance, the number 31, located at the upper end of one of the bars 10, is to represent the plate 4, the flange of which is numbered 31, and the name-slip to the right of number 31 is'to have upon it the name of the party to whom credit is given and whose credit-slips are located upon the plate 4, the flange of which is numbered 31. It will be understood that by this arrangement the names of the parties to whom credit is given will not be exposed to view except upon the door 9 when said door is open and turned down,
Ido
as illustrated in Fig. 1. For the purpose of preventing the-n-ame-strips yfrom becoming disarranged or soiled the door 9 is provided with the hinged frame 13, which hinged frame carries the glass 14, and the hinged frame, together with the glass, held in proper relation with the door 9 by means of the spring-catch 15 or its equivalent.
For the purpose of preventing the creditslips from becoming' accidentally displaced at the time the plates 4 are removed or partially Withdrawn each of' the plates is provided with aSpring-clip 16, which engages the credit-slips and clam ps the same at their edges, so that they will not become accidentally displaced.
The lower portion of the casing 1 is provided with the drawers 17, which drawers may be of lany desired construction.
For the purpose of supporting the door 9 at th'e desired angle when it is turned down, as illustrated in Fig. 1, the outer face of the door is provided with the scroll-danges 18, which lianges may be of any desired configuration, b-ut should be so formed that they willy give a pleasing appearance.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In a credit-cabinet, a casing having a series of receptacles, credit-slip plates adapted to be inserted in said receptacles, each of said plates having a vertical {iange at its outer end extending part way across the plate, a door hinged at its lower edge to the casing, and a series of name-strip-holding bars secured to the inner face of the door, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
SAMUEL L.'HENRY.
