Be .-it yknown that I, JOHN FINN, of Decorar-h, in lthe county of-,Winneshiek, and Stute of Iowa.,have invented a. new anduseful Machine for Forming Square Pans; endl do hereby declare that the following isa. full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being hed to the annexed drawings, making a port ot` this specification, in wheh- Figure 1 is a perspective view.

The nature of this invention consists of n new and improved machine for forming square4 pans of tin, or-

other metal, by which the workiis perforated with greatercelerity, und better than by theold system.

My machine is composed of twofpcrnlellogramc pieces of wood or metal, A B, fig. 1, connected together by hinges, H. To th`top of the piece'vB, :mother piece,` C, is fastened.' Aherf, N, or Irecess,is cut between these two pieces, wide enough to dmit the tin or metal composing the pan, and of necessary depth for the sides.

By inserting the edge of'the tin into the last-described recess to the proper depth,`und Vraising.; the handle I, one side of the pan'is formed, Yas shownby the red line in fig. 2. In 'this way, two opposite-.s'idesfofv the pon may he formed,ebut in forming the other sides the .corners of the pan wouldl be, in' the way.' To obviate this diHiculty, recesses are cut, E, close to the ends of blocks-C und D. I'nto these recesses the corners extend during the formation of the pan.

The next operation is to close the corners up against the side of pen. lThis 'is done by means oflever G working in the recess, und pressing the cornerof the panhome to its place. 4 I

The size of the'pan may be varied by filling up the recesses E with blocks, F, of proper form and size,

end fustenng on top of B, extension-block D, to extend' to the'next pair of recesses, thus lengthening thel machine. ,This block may be moved back and forth by means ot' the bolt `eind slot J, thus affording a quick and easy method 'of changing from the side/to the ends of oblong pans.

What I claim -as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is, 1. The' recesses E and blocks F, as herein specified, 2. Extension-block and bolt and slot J', substantially as describedil 3.l Lever or cam G', for the purpose set forth. l f
