BOTTLE-CLEANING DEVICE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 774,106, dated November 1, 1904.
Application filed April 11, 1904. Serial No. 202,680. (No model.)
To [1,7] 1071,0711, it Uta/y concern.-
Be it known that I, SARAH QUEE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Pasadena, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented new and usefulImprovements in Bottle-Cleaning Devices, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a device for cleaning the interior of bottles; and the object thereof is to provide a simple and eficient device to hold a cloth for cleaning the interior of a bottle and which can also be used for cleaning out the sharp corner where the bottom of the bottle is united to the side wall thereof. I accomplish this object by the device described herein and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, inwhich Figure 1 is a side elevation of a cleaning device, and Fig. 2 is an edge view thereof.
In the drawings, A is a piece of wire which is formed into a loop B in the center thereof to provide convenient means for handling the cleaner and for hanging the same upon a nail when not in use. Below the loop B the two members of the wire are twisted together to form a shaft (J, thereby keeping the two members together and affording a rigid portion. Below the shaft C a cloth-retaining loop D is formed by bending the two members of the wire outwardly and then inwardly and again twisting them together to prevent them from separating and then bending them outwardly and then spreading the points E outwardly. The points E are sharpened, as best shown in Fig. 2, so that if any material clings to the bottom of the bottle to such an extent that rubbing the cloth thereon will not remove it these sharpened points will enable the operator to cut it off the bottom. As the points E project outwardly slightly, they are thereby enabled to be used for cleaning out the sharp corners between the bottom and side walls of the bottles. The loop D forms a ready and convenient means for attaching a cloth to the wire for use in cleaning bottles.
The device may also be used for cleaning lamp-chimneys and other like structures.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. In a bottle-cleaning device formed from a single piece of wire bent in the center to form a loop, and having the members below the loop twisted together to form a shaft and then bent outwardly and inwardly to form a cloth-retaining loop and then twisted together and then bent outwardly and downwardly and outwardly and terminating in sharpened point.
2. In a bottle-cleaning device of the char acter herein described; asingle piece of wire bent to form a loop at one end and second loop near the other end and having the intermediate portions between the loops twisted, and having the lower end terminating in a fork, saidd fork having the prongs thereof sharpene In witness that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto subscribed my name this 4th day of April, 1904.
