TO ALL WHOM IT -MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, B. F. A. second frame travels in the rst, back :ind forth breadthwise, :ind n carriage, on which rests the post to be bored, travels to and fro lengthwise in the second frame. The post is' held in place by a. clamp mounted on thc'cnrringe. In the accompanying drnivings- Figurel is u top view 'ofl my machine.
' `l`igure2 is a' side view thereof, partly in section; and
Figure 3 is n vertical -transverse section on line :a x.

A is the frame, having an adjustable bnr, A', adjustable in the slots a by set-screws, Ail-d hwllg the auger B mounted on the adjustable bnr A?, rotated by the driving-pulley b by any rnotor. C is n. frame, formell of t'vo rails and c1oss-pieces. The endsbf the rails supported on the cross-pieces of the frame A and the frame C areheld down by the front bnr of the second frame, and by guides cl, leaving the -frame C free to slide buck and forth the `width of' the frme AQv A T-shaped carriage, E,slid4es in grooves in the rails of the frame C. The post is placed on the carriage-E and secured by the'clamp F. The rail A being ndjnstcd to the required height, motion isgiven to the auger, and the fence-post is fed to it by pressing on the trcndle Gr, which, by means of the lever, operates the bar I, hinged at z' to the jointed lower limbs of the cross-piece of the frame C, carrying thc 'carriage E on which the post is placed, and by depressing the trcndle Gthe post is withdrawn. The lever H being now raised, the pin z on lever J is drown freni notch t, pressing beck one end of pnwl-lever K, and'rising the pnwl-end ou-t of the not-ch in the side of the bnr L on carriage E, 0l' 0n the raised side of carriage E, when the pawldever M engages in the notch on the under side of E, ns shown in iig. 3, and presses -it forward, carrying the post with it the distance at which it is required to bore another hole, when the pan-llever K engages in the notch provided at the required distance in the bnr L.
I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combinationof the levers I-I, J, and K, and M, with the pin I, notch h, and .notches on the bar L of .carriage E, or its equivalent, all constructed und operating in manner substantially as above set forth and described. l B.- FQ MOHR.
