ATENT F TRATOR OF SAID MARTIN, DECEASED, AND I-IORATIO G. CREEKIWIORE, OF
ASSIGN'OR TO AD. W. CREEKMORE LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY.
STILL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 742,697,
Application filed May 4, 1903.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SIDNEY B. IVIARTIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mc- Kee, in the county of Jackson and State of Kentucky, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stills, of which the fol lowing is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in stills, and one object of my invention is to provide a still which will be continuous and easy of operation.
Another object of my invention is the provision of an article of this character which will be very simple of construction and inexl5 pensive of production.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of my complete apparatus. Fig. 2 is a vertical central sectional view thereof.
The invention consists of the combination and arrangement of parts substantially as shown in the drawings, in which- 4 The letter A designates the boiling-tank, B the heating-tank, G the pipe leading from said boiling-tank to the doubler and low-wine z 5 receptacle D, from which receptacle leads the pipe E, which passes to and forms a worm in the heating-chamber B and .then passes to the cooler F. The boiler A is provided with the openings at and b, the former to admit air 0 and the latter to let out the slop. The doubler D is also provided with a waste-outlet c and an opening d in its top, through which the low-wine is poured into the doubler. The boiler A and heater B are separated by a suitable partition 6, in which an opening is provided, and a cork f for said opening, through which the beer passes from heater to boiler.
The operation of distillation is as follows:
The cork for the opening in the partition separating A and B is removed to let the beer into the boiler, after which it is replaced and the upper chamber or heater is filled with beer. The vapor arising from the boiling-chamber dated October 27, 1903.
Serial No. 155,587. (No model.)
passes through pipe 0 into the low-wine tank D, into which has been poured through open- .ingd enoughloW-wine to cover the end of pipe 0. The vapor then passes through pipe E, heating in its passage the beer in heater B, and thence throu g a continuation of the same pipe, connecting heater and cooler through the worm in the cooler, whence the resultant whisky. is drawn oflf. When the beer in the boiler has boiled ofi, the beer in the heater warmed by pipe E is let through the opening in the partition, after which the heater is again filled to be ready when the beer in the boiler has again boiled oif.
It will thus be seen that I provide a still which is almost continuous in operation.
When necessary, the slop from boiler may be drawn off through the opening a, and for the purpose of drawing off the waste from the doubler I provide the opening 0.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The still herein shown and described, consisting of the tank divided by a partition to form a boiling and heating chamber, the boiling-chamber having an air-inlet and a discharge opening, and the partition having an opening, a plug for controlling said opening, a doubler and a cooler, the doubler having a filling and discharge opening, the pipe leading from the doubler and formed with a worm arranged in the heating-chamber and passing from the heating-chamber and formed with a coil in the cooling-chamber and the pipe leading from the partition in the tank to the lower portion of the doubler.
In testimonywhereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
SIDNEY B.'MARTIN.
