SAW-TABLE.
SPEGIFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 741,034, dated October 13, 1903.
. Serial No. 136,445. (No model.)
To otZZ whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK D. HAZEL- TON, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Saw-Tables, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in circularsaw tables, and has as its primary ob-, ject to provide simple means for effectively holding the mandrel while attaching or removing the saw.
The nature and characteristic features of the improvements will more fully appear by' reference to the following description, taken in connection with the accompanying draw. ings, of which Figure 1 represents a vertical sectional view taken on the line of the mandrel. Fig. 2 represents a vertical sectional view taken transversely to the mandrel, and Fig. 3 represents a side view of the mandrel-holding device or wrench and sectional views of the mandrel and wrench-support.
As shown in the drawings, the tabletop 1, which normally rests on the box 2, is hinged on the rod 3, supported by said box.
The saw is fixed on one end of a mandrel 11, having a driving-pulley 12 on the opposite end thereof, the mandrel being j ournaled in the bearings 13 and 14, supported, respectively, by the end wall 15 of the box 2 and the bridge'ld, connected with the box.
An arm 20, mounted on and movable along the rod 3, is provided with a lug or shoulder 21, adapted for engaging the box 2, so as to prevent the arm from falling below the point desired. The arm is also provided with a shoe 22, having a circular portion adapted to 1 permit the free movement of the mandrel therein and a communicating slot adapted for engaging the squared section 23 of the mandrel for holding the latter against turning. Normally the arm occupies a position on the rod 3 atwhichvits shoe 22 is removed from engagement with the squared section 23 of the mandrel, as shown in Fig. 1, the circular portion of the mandrel turning freely in the circular portion of the shoe. Upon attachingor removing the saw in relation to the mandrelthe table is elevated and the arm is moved along its bearing until its shoe is coincident with the squared section of the mandrel, when the arm. is elevated and the slot in its shoe caused to engage the squared section of the mandrel, which is firmly held thereby.
Having described my invention, I claim- 1., In a saw-table, in combination with a saw, a mandrel adapted for the engagement of a holding-shoe, and an arm havinga holdlug-shoe thereon adapted for engaging said vmandrel, said arm being movable along said mandrel, substantially as specified.
2. In a saw-table, in combination with a saw, a mandrel having a wrenching-section, and a hinged arm having a shoe adapted to be moved to engage and disengage said mandrel, said arm being movable along its hearing, substantially as specified In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand, this 19th day of December, 1902, in the presence of the subscribing witnesses.
FREDERICK D. HAZELT'ON.
