AMUSEMENT DEVICE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 732,430, dated June 30, 1903. Application filed January 10, 1908.' Serial No. 138,460- (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, CHARLES A. NEEDHAM, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the borough of Manhattan, in the city and 5 State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Amusement Devices, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in amusement devices, and has for its object to 10 provide an amusement device comprising a seesaw and a traveling support therefor.
'A further object is to provide'an amusement device consisting of a way or track, a carriage fitted to travel along the same, and
:5 a seesaw pivoted to the said carriage.
A still further object is to provide an amusement device of the above character in which the operation of the seesaw by the persons occupying the same will propel the traveling 'zo pivotal support of the seesaw.
A practical embodiment of my invention is represented in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 represents in side elevation one.

Proceeding to describe the. form shown in Figs. 1. and 2, the amusement device consists of the following parts: A carriage 1 is provided with suitable traction-wheels 2, fitted to travel along a way or track 3, which may be elevated or not, as may be desired. This carriage 1 is provided with front and rear platform extensions 4 and 5.

In Figs. 3 and 4 I have shown the carriage 1 as being fitted to be moved along the way or track 3 by one of the occupants of the seesaw. I have also shown in this instance the platform 6 as being provided with a depending arm 16 for supporting a third person for adding to the capacity of the device, which person will be swung to and fro as the seesaw is operated. In this instance the lower person may propel the traveling pivotal support for the rocking frame. The persons carried by the frame 6 may propel the said support.
In Figs. 1 and 2 I have shown a device in which the persons are at all times above the levelofthe way or track, while in Fig. 5 I have shown a form in which the opposite ends 7 5 of the frame 6 are alternately swung above and below the way or track 3 along which the carriage 1 travels.
It is evident that many changes might be made in the construction, form, and arrange- 8o ment of the several parts without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention. Hence I do not wish to limit myselfstrictly to the structure herein set forth; but
